The Ebonyi State Governor,  Chief Martin Elechi, has revealed that his successor in 2015 must have political comportment in dealing and tolerating the opposition and its activities in the state.
Elechi made this known during a special church service to mark this year’s 2014 Esther celebration at the Government House, Chapel in Abakaliki.
He noted that a particular person had been recommended to him as his successor but he would not support the person because he cannot tolerate the opposition.
He said: “Someone approached me sometime last year for reason of making a particular person to be my successor in 2015, and I said to him, well it is for the electorate to choose but if you ask me I will not support that person.
“The reason is that he cannot tolerate opposition. Here they oppose wrongly, they don’t make constructive oppositional statement, they are all out to condemn, to destroy but in spite of that we must tolerate the opposition,” he stated.
Elechi however drew his reason from the Second World War Israelites holocaust which he said did not redirect their steps as a nation today to avenge the ugly incident they found themselves 65 years ago rather propel them to seek for a better tomorrow.
The governor, therefore called on individuals to develop such forgiving spirit like that as seen among the nation Israel, adding "from the present state such is the universal remedy to make Nigerians attain its glory beyond her 100 years as one united independent country.
“We can make the difference, we can get to a place higher than that if we can forgive and tolerant one another and focus on the future, and this message goes to us the political class,” he advised.
