Bomb blast , Monday, rocks crowded bus station near Abuja the capital city of Nigeria, official said .
A loud blast rocked a bus station packed with commuters heading to the capital Abuja on Monday, with many people feared injured, the rescue agency spokesman told AFP.
“This morning there was an explosion at the Nyanya Motor Park,” Manzo Ezekiel of the National Emergency Management Agency said. “Rescue teams are already on ground. There were so many people there at that time, so we think there must have been some injuries,” he added. The cause of the blast was not yet known.
A car bomb explosion rocked Nyanya Bus terminus in Abuja with scores of people dead and several cars set on fire.
The incidence happened at about 6:45am at the bus station which serves as a major terminus for commuters coming into Abuja from satelite towns in the Federal Capital territory.
Though details of casualties were not officially available, Vanguard counted at least ten bodies as at 7:00am when our correspondent went to the scene of the incidence.
Atleast seven burnt cars were seen at the park as a joint team of different security forces battled to evacuate the dead and injured, which an eye witness put at ‘over fifty’.
