The Kosofe Chapter of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Saturday held a rally in Lagos to decry marginalisation of their members in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They also called for unity among all APC members so as to reposition the party ahead of 2015 elections.
The rally, which was tagged ‘Unity Rally’, took off from the New Garage at Ojota at 11:30am and ended at the Lagos State Scout Council Headquarters, Ogudu, where speeches were delivered by leaders of the defunct party.
Addressing the rally at Ogudu, the defunct CPC Chairman in Kosofe, Hon. Ademola Adeoye, said they were gathered as members of the APC, a membership which he said, “was devoid of any coloration as to whether you are an old or new player in the political game of the progressives.â€
He said, “That APC is here today, it is the handiwork of our leaders who saw the dangerous path our great country was drifting under the present national government and took steps to save it before it was too late. The thinking of the founding fathers of APC was based on the spirit of give and take and ultimately, to bury personal and collective greed for overall achievement of national Justice, Peace and Unity as enunciated in the party’s motto.â€
He therefore called on all true progressives in APC Kosofe and Lagos State as a whole to abide by the spirit of selflessness and join hands with the founding fathers of the party to achieve the overall agenda of justice, equity and peace.
Also speaking at the rally, the party’s state leader, Chief Ajibade Emiabata Balogun, said the current arrangement cannot be conducive for the new party to forge ahead. He therefore called on the APC leadership to harmonise the structures and members of the party.
