Sponsored by Hon. Ahmed Idris, the motion is seeking the executive arm of government to allow the Civil Defense, Fire, Immigration and Prison Service Board (CDFIPB) to perform its function as enshrined is its establishment Act, Cap.12 of 2004. The motion was stood down following a point of order raised by Hon. Ossai Nicolas Ossai from Delta State last week Tuesday.
It was jettisoned when Osai said a similar motion had already been debated and ruled upon with a resolution taken to conduct investigative hearing on the sad incident of March 15.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, sought the informed view of the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Albert Sam-Tsokwa. Sam-Tsokwa later reported to the House that the motion so cited by Ossai was on a different subject matter which has nothing to do with the powers of the president to set up a committee.
The motion was subjected to the same technicalities again yesterday, making Tambuwal to put it in abeyance “until I have studied the rules and consulted the Chairman of Rules and Business Committee again.”
