Ahead of Saturday’s governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, one of the leading aspirants, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has said he is fully ready for the contest.

Adeleke, the first governor of the state, said he was “set to make a repeat performance of his victory at the 1991 SDP primaries against the then juggernauts and heavyweights in Osun State”.

In a  statement by Adeleke’s Media Director, Olumide Lawal, in Osogbo yesterday, he noted that “the ebullient and charismatic politician is not leaving any stone unturned in his robust preparation for the contest.”

According to him:”Even though, I came into the race recently, this does not mean that I am ill-prepared. With the political structure I have built over the years and which remains intact up till today, it is easy for me to quickly get acceptance for my desire to emerge as the PDP candidate for the August 9th governorship election.
“Adeleke has been fully on the ground politically since 1990, when some of his co-aspirants were in the school, just smelling politics.

“Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s presence as far as the April 5th contest is concerned is already being felt in all the 30 local government areas of  Osun State, as party faithfuls are spontaneously giving unalloyed support and loyalty towards the realisation of his goal.”

“Adeleke is a long distance runner, who will never run away from a political battle, even if he is woken up from sleep. Therefore, Isiaka Adeleke, is well prepared and will confidently march to the venue of the contest on Saturday and win convincingly.”

He prayed the Osun PDP Exco to avoid undue favouritism towards any candidate, urging them to try not to cut corners.
For the Adeleke campaign organisation, it is not how long, but how well. And anyway, it is better late, than never. Adeleke is a thorough-bred politician, who will never cut corners to win a political contest.”
