NIGERIA: Jonathan Celebrates Jang, Calls Him Bridge Builder

President Goodluck JonathanPresident Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, showered accolades on the Governor of Plateau State, Da Jonah David Jang, over his tremendous transformation of the state, saying the bridge builder’s transformation knows no bounds; having constructed over 1000 rural roads, bridges and dualisation of so many roads in the state.
According to him, Jang has also impacted positively on the people of the state, just like he did when he was the military administrator of old Benue and Gongola States.
The President was at Du in Jos South Local Government Area, at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), where the governor held a thanksgiving service to mark his 70th birthday.
Represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo, the President, who noted that Jang has transformed the agric sector with the establishment of Agriculture Service Training Centres (ASTC) in the three senatorial zones of the state, added that the governor built the first flyover in Jos, while two additional flyovers were at the stage of completion.
Jonathan also lauded the efforts of the governor at constructing 500 primary schools, 240 secondary schools and renovation of 18 hospitals in the state, describing it as no mean feat and a step in the right direction.
He said “governor Jang is constructing an Olympic-size stadium where youths will engage themselves in sporting activities that will enable them contribute their quota towards the state and nation building.”
He said attaining the age of 70 years is very important in one lives, seeing that growing older is growing wiser. For ensuring that lasting peace returned to the state, Jonathan also commended the Governor and urged him to sustain the tempo.
Also, Chairman, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has berated the All Progress Congress (APC) describing it as an expired political party and empty vessels, which makes empty noise without political machinery to win the 2015 general election.
Akpabio, speaking at a thanksgiving service of the 70th birthday of Jang, said the celebrant has proved himself as a worthy leader by his style of governance and leadership in the past six years coupled with his achievements as the military governors of old Benue and Gongola states, adding that his style of leadership is worthy of emulation.
He said, “governor Jang is a nice person and one of those who realised that leadership comes from God. He is one of those governors who support coexistence of Nigeria and support the leadership of this country. He is not like those governors looking for publicity; those looking for publicity know where to go. They just go to one of these expired political parties like the All Progressive Congress.
“They seek cheap publicity by abusing the President, Senate President. They abuse prominent people because they own media house. Jang is a dedicated man, who believes in the leadership of this country.”
