Confab: Tight security at NJI, venue of confab

ABUJA—AHEAD of inauguration of the National Conference on Monday next week, venue of the Conference, National Judicial Institute, NJI has been beefed off by armed security personnel to avert any security breach.
When Vanguard visited the place yesterday which is located along Jabi Junction, Umaru Yar’Adua Way Junction, also known as Airport Road, Abuja, men of the State Security Service, SSS were seen moving round the premises as a Pick-up van was stationed outside the gate of the premises while another one was right inside the Institute close to the hall that has been designated as the place for the inauguration.

Besides the Pick-ups, there were security men armed with guns, who did not station themselves in one place.
While some Secretariat staff were busy yesterday vetting the list of accredited journalists from various media houses, some were in the hall arranging the chairs ahead of the inauguration which has been slated for Monday.

Speaking with Vanguard yesterday, the Assistant Secretary, Media and Communications, James Akpandem who noted that all was set for the delegates, however disclosed that there were no plans to change the Conference venue which is the National Judicial Institute, NJI, adding that the event will take off at 4 pm with delegates expected to be seated at 3.15 pm.

When asked whether accommodation will be provided for the delegates, Akpamdem explained that both accommodation and transport for the delegates would be monetized, adding, “everything is monetized”
