1,000 APC, LP Members Defect to PDP in Ogun

The ancient town of Isara in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State went agog over the weekend as some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The declaration witnessed the presence of the state Chairman of PDP, Mr. Bayo Dayo, the Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, Chairman of Ogun East senatorial district, Dr. Adekoya Adeleke Adedoyin, Mr. Yemi Akinwanmi, Alhaji Saula Adegunwa and other chieftains of the PDP.
The decampees numbering about 1,000 were led by a former Chairman of Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) and leader of LP, Mr. Dotun Sopeju, and a key supporter of Hon. John Obafemi, who is a member of the state House of Assembly and former caretaker chairman.
In their separate speeches, Mr. Tunde Adekoya and Alhaji K.T. Fadimu, explained that they decided to join the PDP based on the performance of President Goodluck  Jonathan  and the encouraging steps of all inclusive attitude and actions of the Coordinator, South-west Mobilisation and Organisation Committee of PDP, Mr. Buruji Kashamu.
Adekoya said having stayed with the APC and LP with the intent that things would get better, himself and his followers decided that the best party that would bring more people-oriented programmes to the grassroots was the PDP.
While welcoming the defectors to the party, the state PDP Chairman, Dayo, thanked the leaders of Remo North Local Government Area chapter of PDP for creating an environment that was encouraging the new members to join PDP.
He promised that all the necessary support required to further fortify the PDP in the local government and the state as a whole would be provided in other to win all the forthcoming elections in 2015.
Speaking also, Director of Operations and Mobilisation of PDP in the state, Hon. Koye Ijaduoye, who hails from the council, expressed gratitude to God for the development and remarked that the event was the beginning of new dawn in PDP in Remo North Local Government Area and the state at large.
