PDP Begins Sale of Ekiti Governorship Forms February 24

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday announced that the sale  of governorship forms  for the Ekiti State governorship election would commence on February 24, while those for Osun State governorship poll would start on March 14.

A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said the sale  of the forms for Ekiti State would end on March 3  while that for Osun State would stop on March  21.
The party directed its governorship aspirants in Ekiti State to return all completed forms between March 3, to March 6.

Aspirants from Osun State were expected to return the completed forms between March 24 and 26.
The party said it would commence the screening of aspirants from Ekiti State on March 8 and those from Osun State on March 28, while the appeal committee to review any disqualified aspirant is expected to take place on March 10 for Ekiti State and March 29 for Osun State.
According to him, ward congresses will take place in Ekiti State on March 13, while the primary election to pick the party’s candidate will hold on March 15 and the appeal committee is billed to take place on March 17.

Also, the Osun State PDP ward congresses to elect three ad hoc delegates would take place on April 2 and the state congress primary election to elect the governorship candidate is slated for April 5.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has assured all governorship aspirants of a level playing field.

Mu’azu, while receiving delegates from the Ebonyi State chapter of the party who visited him in Abuja, also hailed members of the party, in the state for being formidable and united.
He urged them to teach the party leadership in neighbouring states how to be more united as them.

Earlier, the Ebonyi State Governor, Martins Elechi, had  cautioned the national leadership of the party against hurried re-admittance of members, who had committed atrocities either against their state or the country.

Elechi, who urged the national leadership of the party to adopt the reconciliation model in Ebonyi State, said: “For members who defected, we have received a number of them on certain conditions. Primarily we insist that if you have committed atrocities when you left us, only God can forgive you. The PDP lacks the power to forgive you.

“But you have to go and make amends to families whose members you killed or whose houses you burnt or whose members you maimed; thereafter come back to the PDP then we will accept you. We don’t want people to bring their bad image to the party of our choice. So in a few cases where these conditions applied, they have not come back. But everywhere else we have opened the doors wide and they are streaming in.”
