The former National Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has urged Nigerians to avoid anything that will threaten the unity and oneness of the country.
Onu in his goodwill message to Muslims, signed by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr. Patrick Ojim, said the challenge before every patriotic Nigerian is to make sacrifices in order to keep the natin afloat.
“I use this opportunity to urge all Nigerians to rededicate themselves to those timeless values that will renew our democracy and strengthen our resolve to build a better Nigeria we all can be proud of,” he said.
He said this year marked the 100 years of the nation’s amalgamation as one country, stating that there was need for us to work together and rededicate ourselves to a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
“We should remain resolute in our faith in the power of prayers as the relieving balm for all challenges. We draw inspiration from the knowledge that the Almighty God, who watches over our land, shall endow us with the power of victory, especially as we confront the several challenges plaguing our dear country. This is the time to make the necessary sacrifices for the common good so as to guarantee the happiness of our people.
“I believe that every Nigerian should be part of the efforts being made by committed progressives and resolute patriots to provide Nigerians with broad, strong and a united alternative political party that can return power to our people and redefine the role of politics in our development process,” he added.
