In spite of the wrangling within the hierarchy of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) culminating to the defection of some of its members to the opposition, the party in Bauchi State still remained intact.

According to the state PDP Assistant Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Zayam, apart from a member representing one of the federal constituencies in the state that allegedly defected to the APC, all other stakeholders in the state sinks and swims in the PDP.

Zayam explained that as the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, he was even yet to confirm the genuinety or otherwise of the defection of Hon. Yakubu Dogara representing the Bogoro, Tafawa Balewa and Dass federal constituency in the state.
The spokesman was yesterday reacting to speculations spreading round the state that Governor Isa Yuguda is making clandestine moves to defect from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I’m confidently telling you that none of the PDP stakeholders in Bauchi State, including the state and federal legislators defected to the opposition party, except the allegation that Hon. Yakubu Dogara, defected to the APC and even this is subject to confirmation”, he stated.

Zayam assured that all PDP stakeholders in the state, which he categorised as group A, B and C were the pillars, active members, supporters, and even loyalists, stressing that PDP membership in the state remained united and indivisible.

According to him, Yuguda has no intention whatsoever to defect to the opposition APC, adding, “Yuguda is not nursing any intention to defect from the PDP, he has not indicated such a move, he neither inform us of doing so, all of us remains in the PDP”.

He also expressed disgust at the political bickering within the ranks and files of the PDP nationwide, and stressed the need for party members, especially its leaders and the so-called defectors to shield their swords and find amicable solutions to the wrangling among them.
On power rotation in Bauchi state, Rimin Zayam said that PDP in the state has no such arrangement, saying any person can aspire to the governorship seat irrespective of his location, religion, tribe or ethnicity.

“There are certain things that deserve to be done, there could also be rotational arrangements, and there could also exist agreements between stakeholders as regards elective offices, but none of these exist in Bauchi state”, he stated, stressing that it’s a person that is being elected not a party.

He called on the people of the state and indeed Nigerians to fear God in all their dealings, be thankful to Him, remained united, and urged politicians in particular to shun politics of rancor, bitterness, mudslinging or abuse of one another so as to move the country forward.

Rimin Zayam then expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for spearing our lives to see the end of the year 2013, prayed for bountiful New Year and peaceful celebration of the yuletide period.
