Coach of Super Sand Eagles, Audu Adamu has spread his dragnet in hunt of new players who will take over from captain Olawale Isiaka, Ogbonnaya Okemiri and Azeez Abu
Speaking to Sports Vanguard after his troops spanked Senegal 5-2 to win the final match of the 2013 Copa Lagos Beach Soccer tournament held weekend at the Eko Atlantic, Adamu said that the plan to start searching for new players has become necessary if Nigeria must keep up with the pace of development happening in global beach soccer.
“The likes of Isiaka, Okemiri and Abu have done exceedingly well for Nigeria, but they are no longer getting younger, which makes it important for us to start searching for new players to take over from them. The search starts now and I hope that these ones will be able to deliver in due course”, said Abu, who added that he was excited with the trio of victories recorded by his team at the Copa Lagos.
“I am happy with the outcome of the game. This is the third time we are winning this tournament and you can see that we have improved over the years, I believe this team will go places. All the teams that participated in the tournament are good. It’s just a pity that one team had to take the trophy home at the end of the day..”
