Obasanjo-letterIndications emerged  last night that prominent Nigerians of Ijaw extraction might take former President Olusegun Obasanjo to task for singling them out for attack in his missive to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Particularly considered offensive to the Ijaw, who are Jonathan’s kinsmen, is the use of quotations mark to describe their ethnic nationality by the former president in his controversial letter to Jonathan last week.

An Ijaw legal practitioner, Mr. Mela Ofoborika, told Vanguard in an interview last Sunday that natives of Ijaw ethnic nationality considered Obasanjo’s emphasis on Ijaw as a personal attack and a calculated attempt to disparage them before other Nigerians.
