The House of Representatives has expressed worry  over the way and manner in which between N900 billion to N1 trillion was withdrawn from the Service Wide Vote accounts between 2004  and 2012 with nothing to show for it.

Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, disclosed this when he received audit queries issued by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation, AGF,  to the Office of the Secretary to the  Government of the Federation, SGF,  and the Ministry of Information at the weekend.

According to him, the Service Wide Vote accounts were being abused by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), over the years, with no proof of performance to back accruals.

He cautioned the MDAs that his committee may be compelled, owing to these infractions, to suggest the scrapping of the account or have it be reduced to five percent of what it used to be now.
