The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said President Goodluck Jonathan has performed creditably well to justify its support for his administration.
Addressing journalists on the outcome of the party's National Working Committee's meeting in Abuja Wednesday, the National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, said the party was considering Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State as its Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the national leader in recognition of his outstanding achievements.

He said the new position for Obi would be formally conferred on him at the next meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

While reading out the communique of the meeting, Umeh said President Jonathan and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserved commendation for their efforts in providing adequate security and ensuring that the Anambra governorship election were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

He said the party was happy with the execution of sound policies by the Jonathan's administration under which many achievements have been  recorded.

"We are not hiding the fact that we are supporting his administration and his transformation agenda but when we get to 2015 the party will meet as we met in 2011 to decide on the Presidential election. 2015 is still ahead of us and when the time come we will do the needful," he said.

On the victory of APGA at the just concluded Anambra governorship poll, Umeh said the party is dedicating the victory to the memory of its late national leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu and to Obi for his vigour and tenacity to achieve success.

He described attempts by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disparage the November 16 election and the subsequent supplementary poll as an exercise in futility, adding that APC's latest decision to take their grievances to  the tribunal was is a more civilised thing to do.
He accused APC of attempting to discredit INEC and democracy in Nigeria through unfounded allegations.

According to the APGA chairman, it is remarkable that the Anambra governorship election which many thought was going to be a difficult one later turned an easy contest for APGA because of the performance of the incumbent governor, Obi.

"We congratulate the party's governor-elect, Dr, Willie Obiano and his deputy Dr. Nkem Okeke for their victory. We thank in a special way President Jonathan for ensuring that the security agencies provided adequate security throughout the period of the election and ensuring that the people's vote decided the winner of the election, " he said.

Umeh also spoke about the local government election fixed for December 21 by the state Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
He also said the party was gearing up for the Anambra local government election and expressed the hope that other parties will join hands to make the exercise a highly successful.
