The National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Bamanga Tukur Sunday described the action of seven governors of the party that stormed out of the August 31 Special National Convention as equivalent of political ‘coup and secession’ if such action had taken place during a military administration.
In a statement by his media assistant, Oliver Okpala, Tukur said, “it was only in a political dispensation that the governors can go free after conspiring and walking out on the President of the country in the party’s last national convention. The actions of the governors amounted to a political coup and secession which should be condemned by every right thinking Nigerian as an insult on the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
