2015: FEC Approves 70,000 Software RFID

In order to ensure free and fair election in 2015, Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the award of contract for the supply of 70,000 software development and support for the permanent voters’ card Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers.
 
Briefing journalists after the FEC meeting yesterday, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, hinted that the contract was awarded in favour of the contractors with the least quoted unit.
 
He also said after the deliberations, "the council approved the award of contract No.6210 for the rehabilitation of Ilorin-Jebba- Mokwa-Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Road section 1.
 
"The other is the Ilorin- Jebba (93.6KM long single carriage way) in Kwara State in favour of Messrs CGC Nigeria Limited in the sum of N14, 587,233, 292.17 with completion period of 24 months.
 
"Following a memo brought by the Minister of Works, council approved four contracts for the rehabilitation of three federal roads in Kogi/Kwara, Bauchi/Plateau and Adamawa States and dualisation of one federal road in Kano State.
 
"Council approved the award of contract for the rehabilitation of Ilorin-Omuaran-Kabba Road in Kwara/Kogi States in the sum of N8,217,373,106.17  with a completion period of 36 months.
"Council also approved the award of contract for the dualisation of Kano-Katsina Road phase 1: Kano town at Dawanau roundabout Katsina State border in Kano State in the sum of N14,078,252,565.88 with a completion period of 30 months" Maku stated.
 
He further disclosed that council also approved the award of contract for the rehabilitation of Tumu-Pindiga-Kashere (Gombe State)- Futuk-Yalo (Bauchi State) Bashar-Dengi (Plateau State road : construction of Yalo-Bashar-Dengi Section) in Bauchi/Plateau States, in the sum of N3,076,381,622.74 with a completion period of 18 months.
