Members of National AssemblyThe House of Representatives has called on the federal government to compel India to pay compensation to the family of a Nigerian murdered in cold-blood in the country.

It also called on the federal government  to prevail on its Indian counterpart to tender an unreserved apology to the people and government of the country over the wanton killing of the Nigerian and the incarceration of 53 others.

The late Nigerian and five others were attacked and mobbed on October 31 in the Goa region of India by people suspected to be members of a drug cartel.

The resolution of the House followed a motion of urgent national interest raised by Hon. Yusuf Ayo Tajudeen representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency.

Another motion by Hon. Halliru Jikantoro representing Agwara/Borgu constituency of Niger State, led to a call for a probe of the Ministry of Power over failure to supply electricity to Kainji and environs.

Tajudeen, who also sought for the unconditional release of those held in Indian prisons, demanded that future intimidation and harassment of Nigerians living in India should never be contemplated, just as he requested that the Indian government should foot the medical bills of the five persons that were injured.

Meanwhile, Jikantoro has noted with dismay that despite efforts and resources expended to improve electricity supply in the country, "Kainji which hosts the premier hydro power station in Nigeria has been in darkness for almost three months now."
