Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State weekend told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), faithful and his supporters in the 2011 governorship elections that their support for is electoral victory was not an investment but a collective responsibility to ensure that there was a government, without which they would have been losers.
He said that he has no regrets or apologies for anybody who was not appointed as Coordinators of Development Centres because he has the power to appoint any person he chooses worthy to occupy any public office.
Elechi stated this during the swearing in of the newly-elected local government chairman and Coordinators of Development Centres at the Women Development Centre, Abakaliki, the state capital.
He said the Development Centre Coordinators of Ngbo North, Effium and Effium South in Ohaukwu Local Government Area would not be sworn in till issues surrounding their nominations were sorted out.
The governor noted that some people were obsessed with the position as coordinators that they thought that unless they were appointed, nothing else is right . He said even though some of his lieutenants must have promised them such positions, they did so without clearance from him.
“I have no regrets or apologies to those who claim that I promise them appointment as coordinators. I make haste to say that I never did anything like that. There are certain people who are obsessed with the position of coordinators that they think unless they get it, nothing else is right.“
