The newly-registered Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) Wednesday came down heavily on the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party was not an alternative platform to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as expected by Nigerians.
The PDM was of the view that the APC lacked the capacity to grow beyond its present state.
The party said the APC had disappointed Nigerians, stressing that the party (APC) lacked internal democracy and had made imposition its hallmark.
The zonal leader of the party, South-east, Dennis Aghanya, who disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting in Enugu, said Nigerians did not see what they were yearning for in the APC.
"APC is not an alternative to PDP. Nigerian masses do not see what they are yearning for in the APC. There is no internal democracy in the party, the party reels in imposition of candidates and that is why the party has refused to grow," he said.
He said APC had continued to face challenges in the states across the country because the party had rotated on very few individuals, who wants to assert their positions at all times.
He said the PDM would not contest any election until it had been able to put her house in order, stressing that it would provide alternative platform to the PDP "for the good of every Nigerian."
Aghanya said the Enugu meeting set up 11-man stakeholders’ committee in the states in the zone for the purpose of membership drive as well as to commence official activities of the party in the zone.
