The Rivers People Forum (RPF) at the weekend faulted the Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, for his role in the cold relationship between President Goodluck Jonathan and the Rivers State Governor, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.

The RPF, an umbrella body of all Rivers people both at home and in the Diaspora, also warned Wike and the factional chairman of the state’s chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Felix Obuah, against using the name of the president for cheap political gains in the state.

In a statement, the forum’s president, Mr. Charles Bekwele, expressed displeasure at the petty war of attrition, which he said the two allies, Wike and Obuah engaged Amaechi in the name of President Jonathan.

He added that Wike, Obuah and their allies by their actions and statements “are hell-bent on destroying the office of Mr. President and dragging the name of its present occupant and his wife, Patience in the mud.

“Their penchant for always dragging the name of President Jonathan and his wife into their petty war of attrition against Amaechi is tantamount to rubbishing the president in a most brutal and crude manner and a vicious humiliation, disrespect and bastardisation of the office of Mr. President.”

He, therefore, described as grossly thoughtless, ill-mannered and horrid, though fruitless, their mission of denigrating and disparaging the person and office of Amaechi, noting that the Obuah character “is a lackey and domestic servant of Wike.”

According to him, Wike, an erstwhile protégé of Amaechi who was nominated to the ministerial position by the governor, has now made discrediting and running down Amaechi his biggest mentor.

He condemned the comments and statements of Wike, Obuah and their lackeys directed at assailing the person and office of Amaechi under the pretext that they were defending and fighting for Jonathan and his wife.

He said: “It is an open secret that Wike and his cohorts have always invoke the name of President Jonathan and his wife, who they fondly call ‘mummy’ in their ‘war’ against Amaechi because they completely lack the political clout, strength and followership to stand against the governor.

“Wike and his allies are characters who are known in Rivers State to be inherently bereft of any known values. Their aim and only goal is to have access to, and steal blindly the collective wealth of Rivers people. Their dark and insidious antecedents are well known to Rivers people.

“These are characters who cannot even win elections in their wards or deliver their wards in any election. We are waiting for them at the polls, where we shall punish them with our votes. We advise Governor Amaechi to ignore these traitors and expired politicians, not to be distracted and remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to Rivers people,” Bekwele explained.
