Hon. Emeka Ihedioha

The Mbaise nation of Imo State has called on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon.  Emeka Ihedioha, to throw his hat in the race for  governorship in 2015 without further delay.

At a solidarity visit to the Deputy Speaker at his country home –Mbutu, in  Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area   which was attended by prominent politicians of Mbaise extraction, the Mbaise nation in a position paper insisted that Ihedioha with a towering profile and enviable  pedigree is the best material among  other contenders for the Imo State number one office to move the state forward.

The Mbaise nation comprises Aboh, Ahiazu, and Ezinihitte LGAs and the high profile delegation consisted of prominent politicians, professionals and community leaders of Mbaise extraction such as Dr. Gerald Ukoha, former member of the House of Representatives and former chairman of Ezinihitte LGA; Hon. Chudi Uwazurike, representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Hon. Ngozi Pat-Ekeji, representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency and Minority Leader in Imo State House of Assembly;  Hon. Obioma Ekennia, representing Ezinihitte in Imo State House of Assembly, Dr. Paddy Njoku, Chairman, Governing Board of NECO, among others.

A former Commissioner in the National Population Commission (NPC) , Dr. Joe Ndu, who spoke the minds of the people , said that  as a governor, Ihedioha would provide a change in the  style of leadership which would be well focused and characterised by a  distinctive sense of purpose and  direction.

“He will provide a government that will demonstrate a noticeable ability to halt and reverse the unemployment rate and increasing pauperisation of the state and will immediately restore the security of life and property in the state and protect the safety of the state itself which have been put in serious danger,” he said.

Enumerating more reasons why the people want Ihedioha to succeed  Okorocha in the next two years,   Ndu recalled that he (Ihedioha)  between 2007-2007 raised  his personal fund to  rehabilitate 14 primary and secondary school blocks within Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala just as he initiated and facilitated the process for the  construction of N1billion jetty at Imo River Owerrinta/Okpala, Imo/Abia state border.
Ndu equally mentioned  the construction of a 133 x33 KVA sub  station located between Nguru and Ibeku facilitated by Ihedioha and which, according to him, had so far attracted  over N22 billion of the Federal Government.

“It is also important to let this August audience to know that the sub-station will satisfy the electricity power needs of Mbaise  and their immediate neighbours,” he said, adding that he (Ihedioha) had facilitated the construction of concillary  injection sub-station at Mbutu in Aboh Mbaise, Ahiara Junction, in Ahiazu Mbaise. Onicha in Ezinihitte Mbaise as  well as in Ngor Okpala”.
