AWKA — AS the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, holds its primaries today to select governorship candidate for the November 16 election, stakeholders from Anambra North have been holding crucial meetings to evolve ways of ensuring that the zone secured the ticket.
Of the seven cleared aspirants of the party, four are from Anambra North. They are Chief Willy Obiano, Chief Emeka Emeka, Chief Paul Odenigbo and Mr. Patrick Obianwu. The fear of the zone is that if they did not select one person to represent the zone, the ticket might go to Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, who is said to be seriously making great in-road among the list of delegates. Ekwunife is from the same Anaocha local government area of Anambra Central as Governor Peter Obi who will complete eight-year tenure in March.
While the former Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, who was disqualified by the screening committee of the party for the race, met weekend with one of the front runners to the race, Mr. Willy Obiano, to discuss the way forward, some powerful traditional rulers from Anambra North also met for the same issue.
Obaze has been very passionate about the next governor coming from Anambra North as he has consistently argued that it was the right thing to do, to give the area a sense of belonging, since it had not produced governor since the creation of Anambra State.
At the meeting of the royal fathers which was held in Awka, one of the governorship aspirants from Anambra North, Chief Patrick Obianwu, was seen driving into the venue of the meeting.
The outcome of the two separate meetings were not immediately known, but a very reliable source told Vanguard that the idea was to actualize the ambition of Anambra North to produce the next governor after Mr. Peter Obi.
