Nigeria: Court remands traffic officer over alleged robbery

ABEOKUTA An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court, Monday,  remanded a 32-year-old Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) official, Adedeji Ibrahim, in prison custody for alleged robbery.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the offence was committed on May 23 at about 8.30 p.m. at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

He said the accused of 5, Akanni Street, Sapon, Abeokuta, allegedly robbed two passers-by, Florence Ogaraku and Yewande Adesemowo, of their money and valuables worth at N100,000.

“Ibrahim robbed the two women of their valuables at the Moshood Abiola Stadium while they were on their way home,” he said.

The accused, whose plea was not taken by the court, was not represented by a counsel.

The Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Adekunle, ordered that he  be remanded at the Ibara prison and adjourned the case to August 30.
