Diamond Bank Plc has expressed its readiness to bring forth prospective clients that would invest in agriculture, healthcare and Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Jigawa state.

A senior official of the bank, Alhaji Muhammed Lawan Shuaibu, disclosed this at the Jigawa Economic and Investment Summit held recently, adding that the bank has successfully partnered the state government for its first ever Jigawa Investment Summit.

Also the Jigawa State Government has commended Diamond Bank for supporting the summit which was held to harness the economic potentials of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Commerce, Hajiya Hauwa Sulaiman Baffa, gave the commendation, remarking that the bank was the official banker for the Jigawa State Economic and Investment Summit.

The theme of the summit was mobilising investments for sustainable development and it was attended by different stakeholders: investment advisors and analysts, bankers and statesmen among others.

Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in a keynote address described Jigawa state as the most investors’ friendly state in the federation.

Obasanjo said the country had to exploit its population strength of over 170 million people from the widely acclaimed land of opportunities to translate that to a land of actuality."

According to him, the problem of the country's leadership is that of unmet expectations, stressing that government at all levels, must invest in the people’s education in order to overcome poverty, redundancy and criminalities.

Earlier in his address of welcome, Governor Sule Lamido recalled his inaugural speech six years ago: "As you all might be aware, our state manifests the worst indices of underdevelopment. It was the electioneering campaign tour that exposed me to the problems of our people in that most pathetic degree, the tour brought me face to face with the uniquely unmitigated case of underdevelopment called Jigawa state."

“We want to announce to the whole world with all the noise we can muster that we are ready and our doors are now opened to take Jigawa to the next level," he said.
