NIGERIA: Fidelity Bank Pledges Support for SMEs

The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi, Monday assured of  the bank’s support for the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Ihejiahi gave this assurance in Lagos during the presentation of cars and cash rewards to winners at the grand finale of the bank’s savings promo in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

“Fidelity Bank will continue to encourage SMEs. It is part of our strategy in the bank. That was why we launched the Fidelity Managed SME two weeks ago,” he said.

Among the star prize winners were two women -Mrs. Edeh Nnena Ogo and Miss Abimbola Oluwaseun
Ihejiahi, who expressed delight over the fact that women were also among the winners, said that the feat underscored that fact that women are very important in the development of the economy.

A total cash of N5 million and five Hyundai Accent cars were given out to customers at the event. A breakdown of the N5 million, showed of the 21 customers that were rewarded, 10 won N100,000; eight customers won N250,000;  two won N500,000, while one customer was rewarded with N1 million. With this, the bank had given out the 25 cars and N25 million it promised at the beginning of the campaign.

The Executive Director, South, Fidelity Bank, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, said: “The reason for this promo was to encourage savings culture and in Nigeria. We are Fidelity, we keep to our words. We are happy that regulatory authorities that followed us at the beginning of the draw are here with us, to attest to the transparency of the exercise.

“Today, Fidelity Bank has transformed lives and we are happy that we have been able to encourage savings culture and also contributed to financial inclusion.”
