MFB to Partner Lagos on Poverty Eradication

Accion Microfinance Bank (AMfB) said it is collaborating with the Lagos State government on a poverty eradication scheme.
According to a statement, members of staff of the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, led by the Director of Commerce Mr. Hakeem Adeniji, indicated this when they paid a courtesy visit to the head office of Accion recently.
Speaking during the visit, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Accion, Ms. Bunmi Lawson, attributed the bank’s success to using the small intervention at its disposal to help people build their businesses and promote their income.
“The visit provided an opportunity for the AMfB and LASG’s team to deliberate on various issues and possibility of collaborating together to eradicate poverty,” the statement added.
While enumerating the various schemes being undertaken by the Ministry, Adeniji said the government was eager and willing to partner organisations towards actualising its vision.
He listed the development of enterprise zones in Ijanikin-Ojo, Gberigbe-Ikorodu, and Ibeju-Agbe Ibeju-Lekki, and the development of the Lekki Free Zone, as well as its various support for small and medium enterprises in the state, as some of the projects the government has undertaken to empower tradesmen and artisans.
