MTN Nigeria has partnered Do Media to launch the MTN DoBox in Lagos, designed to allow subscribers gain access to the latest and most exclusive movies on their mobile phones.
MTN, in a bid to bring cinema closer to its consumers, through their mobile phones, has introduced, first of its kind, Mobile Cinema, a platform which will enable its subscribers gain access to latest blockbuster, premier and short movies, by simply subscribing to MTN DoBox app. The subscriber will invariably, be able to rent any movie of choice, for duration of time, from the well-stocked vault of premium movies, from the Dobox app.
The app leaves subscribers, who are lovers of premier and blockbuster movies, with no stress of going to the cinema to watch premier and blockbuster movies, as once, the app is downloaded and registration is done, subscribers can rent movies with a token, without further use of data, to access and watch movies.
Senior manager, Consumer marketing, MTN, Saidat M’hammed Lawal, said “The initiative is borne out of the desire to deliver top-of-the-range entertainment to MTN’s subscribers at unprecedented and unrivalled speed."
According to her, the partnership with Do Media would provide customers a seamless user experience, through Dobox Internet Bundle (DIB).The partnership will grant customers access to, conveniently, rent movies and trailers. Nigerian entertainment-seekers can now have access to movies of different languages, Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and many more languages, on the go- whenever and, however they can, she said.
Also speaking at the launch, the CEO, Do Media, Gafar Williams, said, “We are very lucky to have chosen the right partners, MTN, to promote this initiative and also this is one of MTN’s bold steps to deliver a new digital world to its customers. Indeed, this move has reinforced MTN’s leadership position in leading the charge in the delivery of invaluable digital world to ICT subscribers in Nigeria."
“The telecoms giant has continued to bring forth a large bouquet of ICT solutions and services that have been acclaimed by the Nigerian public to be highly innovative, valuable and keeping pace with the technological advancement of the western world” he said.
Meanwhile, Nigerian movie stakeholders have continued to commend MTN for the initiative. Movie producer and director, Charles Novia, said the product would go a long way to solve the distribution challenges confronting the industry.
“Now that technology has met with creativity, I believe Nigerian movies will be taken to the next level. As one of the producers, who has his movie on MTN Dobox, I must commend MTN for this initiative; now our films can reach everyone’s hand in a jiffy” he said.
“The initiative, indeed, holds several benefits for the movie viewing public which cannot be ignored. Consumers can now have access to movies on their mobile phones. There will be no need to invest huge amounts of money into turning one’s home into a cinema-like arena,” Novia said.
