KLM Royal Dutch Airlines now offers passengers a chance to enjoy its wide range of inflight entertainment from the moment they take their seat until the moment they disembark.
On intercontinental flights, this means up to an hour more time to enjoy the films, music and other entertainment that are available to all passengers. In the past, the inflight entertainment system was only turned on once the aircraft was airborne, and turned off before landing.
From now till the end of November, the inflight entertainment system will be adjusted aboard KLM’s intercontinental fleet. Apart from extended availability, the navigation of the system has also been simplified by making more use of visual navigation cues, instead text.
During their flight, passengers can choose from 1,000 hours of programming, available in up to 12 languages. In additional to the audio-visual programme, KLM also offers passengers its Holland Herald inflight magazine and various newspapers.
Prior to their flight, passengers can already browse the inflight programme on KLM’s website and via the KLM Movies & More app, which is available for Apple and Android smartphones. Soon the app will be available for iPad.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was founded in 1919, making it the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. In 2004, Air France and KLM merged to form AIR FRANCE KLM. The merger produced the strongest European airline group based on two powerful brands and hubs – Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Retaining its own identity, the group focuses on three core businesses: passenger transport, cargo and aircraft maintenance.
