borko-haram-maiduguriIn its determination to address the security situation in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, where 20 lives were lost due to re-surgence of the Boko Haram sect, the Federal Government has sent two combat helicopters that will complement the efforts of the police and the military to finally put an end to the sporadic killings in the state.

The two helicopters, which arrived on Tuesday at about 1:00 p.m., came 10 minutes after the official distribution of 40 Hilux/pick-up patrol vehicles to the military task force, tagged Operation Mesa (Python), by the state government.

Flagging off the distribution at the Government House, Maiduguri, before the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Azubuike Ihejirika, among other top military officers, Governor Ali Modu Sheriff stated that  it was unfortunate that Borno, which was known as “The Home of Peace”,  was turning into a crisis proned area due to the activities of some people, who called themselves Boko Haram sect.

He, however, vowed that his administration would do everything possible to deal with any criminals in the state.
