Justice Olasumbo Goodluck of FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday, granted bail to Steve Oronsaye, former head of Service of the Federation.

Oronsaye was arraigned on two-count charge under criminal breach of trust and had been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) since March 8.

He was alleged to have deposited N190 million made for the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force which he chaired into a fixed bond in different bank.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, March 15, Goodluck in her ruling on the bail application by Oronsaye Counsel, Mr Joe Agi, held that there is no evidence before the court that the defendant would jeopardise investigation.

She held that though the offence attracts 14 years imprisonment, the defendant has been obedient to the orders of the Federal High Court, where he is also standing trial for another offence.

Goodluck, therefore, admitted him to bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must not be below the ranks of director or former directors in the federal civil service who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned hearing in the matter until March 24.
