The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abba Moro, former minister of interior in the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, TheCable can report. According to a top operative of the anti-graft agency, who spoke to this newspaper on condition of anonymity, Moro was arrested on Monday. “Abba Moro is currently with us,” he said.

“He was arrested in connection with the 2014 immigration recruitment scam. And most likely he will be charged to court.” In March 2014, at least a dozen job seekers died following stampedes at centres where tests for recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were to be conducted. The Jonathan government received scathing criticisms for the incident, but it failed to discipline the officials behind the unfortunate exercise.
