Finland trounced visitors Slovakia 2-nil in Saturday night's Ice Hockey World Championship bout in Helsinki.

The Finns drew first blood when Juhamatti Aaltonen found the back of the net in the 11th minute.

Leading goal scorer Petri Kontiola followed up off his own rebound to score the second goal for the home team in the third period, sealing victory in the process.

The star of the game was undoubtedly goalie Antti Raanta, who made his debut in a national shirt after minding goal for Pori Ässät — performing gloriously in the net Saturday night.

Finland has now defeated Slovakia in six straight World Championship encounters since 2008.

Finland is now unbeaten in the tournament after defeating Germany by 4 goals to 3 in Friday night's opening game. Finland faces France on Monday.
