The accident took place around 100 metres south of the Rovaniemi junction on Highway 21 on Thursday evening.
The tragic incident, which involved a full-frontal collision between two cars, has left one person dead and five injured.
The crash victims, three of whom were seriously injured, were transported to Rovaniemi for treatment.
Emergency services say they received the alarm at 8:30pm on Thursday.
