For the first time, the University of Helsinki has grabbed a spot among top 100 universities on the annual world ranking compiled by the Times Higher Education magazine. The Finnish university made it to 91st place.

Several other Finnish institutions feature on the prestigious list of 400 best universities, but none rank quite as high.

Helsinki region’s Aalto University, the University of Eastern Finland, and the University of Tampere appear among universities grouped into places 301-350, while the University of Turku follows among institutions ranked 351-400.

The top three universities all hail from the United States, and the California Institute of Technology beat Harvard to the top spot for the first time. As for renowned British institutions, Oxford is in fourth place, with Cambridge coming after it in sixth.
