Cross River and Calabar is now the pride of Nigeria or Africa as far as tourism,carnival and hospitality is concerned.
The Calabar carnival is now dubbed -Africa’s biggest street party-this is completely discriptive of the carnival because of level of activities and personalities that usually attend the carnival.
For 4 years running,the Calabar Carnival has been grown bigger and better.
program of activities usually start weeks before the Carnival proper that usually holds from the 27th of December.It usually has 4 bands competing for the converted 1st prize.
Before the carnival proper,programes like choral competitions,boat regatta and more usually hold to wet and prepare the holiday seekers for the STREET PARTY.
Also during the festive period,top musicians in Nigerian and the world usually entertain the people and visitors of Calabar.
Over the last 4 years international artist like,the late LuckyDube,Akon,Fat Joe,Joe,young Jeezy,Nelly,Kirk Franklin,and many more has thrilled the large crowd of calabarians and tourist from Nigeria and tourist from outside the country.
Apart from the carnival,Cross River state boast of a Ranch resort -Obudu Cattle Ranch ,which has the longest cable car in the world and is the venue for the highest paying moutain race prize money in the whole world.
