The Ebonyi state House of Assembly on Tuesday recalled one of its suspended members, Maria Ude Nwachi (Afikpo Chic), representing Afikpo North/East constituency.
Hon. Ude Nwachi of the PPA, is the minority leader of the house.
The suspension that lasted for month was lifted following a motion moved on the floor of the assembly by Victor Chukwu, representing Ezza North west constituency and seconded by Onu Nnoye, representing Ohaozara west constituency.
The suspension followed an alleged involvement of the minority leader in a violent protest and breach of peace along Abakaliki/Afikpo federal highway which caused the burning of some vehicles belonging to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.
Mr. Chukwu noted that the suspended minority leader had shown enough remorse and that she had as well served the duration of her suspension.
The Speaker of the House, Francis Nwifuru, put the motion to recall Hon. Ude Nwachi to vote and it was unanimously adopted.

President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted the names of nominees for minister to the Nigerian Senate, ndibe.org can authoritatively confirm.
According to our source in the National Assembly, the list, containing 21 names were brought to the National Assembly by Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Senator Ita Enang. They were spotted leaving the office of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki as at the time of filing this report.
Commenting on the development, the Senate President confirmed that he has indeed been given the list. The Senate has also reacted on its official twitter page confirming the development.
Recall that the appointment of ministers has been a subject of debate amongst Nigerians with several expressing worry in the delay in naming a cabinet, 4 months after Buhari came to power.

Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II has responded to criticisms following his marriage to 18 year old Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa last week. In a private email sent to select people which has leaked to many social media platforms, he explained why he decided to marry Sa’adatu. Read below
“I am sure NC members all have their views and have kept quiet out of (appropriate) deference to our right to make our individual choice. Obviously I do not need to explain anything to anyone in a purely personal matter but a few points are worthy of note:
1. The lady in question is 18 and thererfore legally of age to marry under all laws and certainly inder Muslim law
2. She is proceeding for her undergraduate education in the UK in january. She had an A in computer science in her O levels and plans to get a degree in computer science 3 each and everyone of my wives is a university graduate and some have worked and fhen stopped and in each case the choice was purely theirs 4. It is a tradition in Kano that emirs and princes in choosing wives consider issues beyond the individual. The family is in every sense a social unit. My predecessor was married to princesses from Ilorin, Katsina and Somoto 5 The relationship between the late Lamido of Adamawa Aliyu Musdafa the father of the current Lamido is well known. Lamido Aliyu was the first emir turbanned after emir Sanusi I and they remained close until Sanusi’s death. 6. My own relationship with the current Lamido dates back to 1981 when he was Ciroma and commissioner for works. By the way the Lamido and I are not illiterates we know what we are doing and he does have a PhD in Engineering 7. My own mother was married in Adamawa and lived there for more than two decades and I have eight younger brothers and sisters from there 8 it is therefore natural that if I choose to marry from another kingdom Adamawa would be the first choice for me and I am extremely happy to strengthen these ling historical bonds 9. The young lady in question gave her free consent and even after the contract the wedding will not happen for a few years. By then she may be 21. If she freely consents to this I do not know on what moral grounds anyone has a grouse. She is an adult, she gave her consent, her education is not being in anyway interrupted. 10. The real issue is that people do not accept cultural difference. And you can see it in the approach to these issues. I am supposed to be urbane and western educated. Yes but i am not european. I am a northern Nigerian Fulani Muslim brought up in a setting exactly like the one my children are being brought up in. If you read this and it improves your understanding of this issue that is fine. If it does not justvremember it us not your life, it is not your daughter and you are not my wife therefore it is not your business. I obviously cannot stoop to the level of responding publicly to these kinds of articles. I have always been an advocate of girls marrying after maturing. I personally like the minimum age of 18 even though i understand those who say 16 is fine and indeed this is the law in most so calked @advanced@ countries. Is this something that I expect a european or western trained or feminist mind to appreciate or endorse? Not at all. But has any american been bothered about my views on men marrying men or women marrying women which frankly I find primitive and bestial? No and my views do not matter. These are cultural issues. Even in Nigeria I have heard all this stuff as in Pius article about “north” and northerners. Again it is a failure to respect difference. There are parts if this country where parents expect their daughters to live with their boyfriends for years and actually get pregnant before they marry. It has become culture. We do not have that in the north and if your daughter gets pregnant before marriage she brings nothing but shame to the name. But we do not issue condemnations. We agree that this is how they choose to live. And i can give many other examples. When people use the term libido they do themselves injustice. First of all it shows how they view women and marriage. Women are nothing but the object of sexual desire. Marriage is nothing but sexual gratification. Well I am sorry but in my tradition it is not. Beauty and attraction rank third after religion and lineage in the choice of a wife. They see an 18 year old young lady. I see a princess of noble birth whose mother is also a princess, and who has been brought up in a good muslim home. This is the kind of woman that is prepared for hiving birth to princes and bringing them up for the role expected of them in society. Martiage is both social and political. Expanding the links of kano which have already been established by my predecessors through inter marriage with katsina, sokoto, ilorin, katagum, ningi, bauchi etc to adamawa is an important and signifant step and this is obvious to anyone with a sense of how royal families work and Ibn Khaldun’s sociological concept of Asabiyyah. When the emir of Kano marries it has to be something beyond what he oersonally desires to what is appropriate for that position and the expectations of the people he represents. You dont just pick up any girl on the street. And by the way for thise who shout libido sex is cheap and available everywhere in all shapes and sizes and all colours if that is what they want. And all ages too. Martiage is a very different proposition. The mother of your children has to be something other than, ot at least much more than a mere object of sexual fantasy. But if you do not know that you need to buy yourself a brain. I have daughters. And they know they can only marry from certain backgrounds. I always prefer family. When my daughter wanted to marry mouftah baba ahmed’s son and she asked me, knowing my views on family, i told her mouftah is family. And this is not about me and mouftah or me an hakeem or nafiu. No. It goes back to Baba Ahmed and Emirs Sanusi and Bayero. And the same rule applies to my sons. And it applied to me as well.
It is I am sure very strange that I should even bother to comment on this. But it would be hypocritical for me to just keep quiet so long as these things are being posted and commented upon explicitly or in a snide manner. There was no secrecy in the marriage fatiha. The date was fixed and it was to be done in the central mosque after friday prayers. The day before we had a tragedy in Saudi Arabia and decided the fatiha must be very low key as a mark of respect for the dead. All traditional rulers in adamawa were there, as were governors and commissioners, members of my own emirate council and adamawa people. There is nothing here to hide or be apologetic about.
The emirs of adamawa have shown love to my parents and grandparents and it is a sign of my appreciation of their love that i marry their daughter. This is the highest statement of friendship and loyalty on both sides.

A PETITION AGAINST WHAT OUR PEOPLE ARE DOING TO US (MOST TIMES IN YOUR NAME)
It is with a heavy heart, laden with grief and utter despair, but with total submission to your supreme authority, despite its deliberate subversion by some of my unconscionable compatriots, that I write to you this unusual letter. Forgive me for breaching protocol in bypassing your approved channel of communications, like prayers and fasting. I am compelled to write because these false casting and binding, duplicitous exhortations going on in churches and mosques all around me, have totally drowned out mine and every other little voices of reason. Although I know you would still have heard me; I wish my equally unsettled fellow citizens and our oppressors too, to hear me and of this petition.
Meanwhile I am from Nigeria, that country the British was inspired by Satan to patch together into forced and needless existence, probably against your will, and left to totter on some fifty five years ago. Although you could have been angry at this; your undeserving grace and unremitting favour upon us have continued to hold the patches together after the dubious Whitman had left us in the lurch; leaving behind the Devil to continue to superintend their contraption in the hands of numerous agents he has that most dutifully do his bids. They are indeed many and have been tormenting us, Lord! Your people in this part are in earth-hell. Oh! What I mean? Hell man has so wickedly created on earth for fellow man, as leased to him by the devil, the master he has chosen over you.
Today, that country is fifty-five. Although he is a man, he looks like a child, and a malnourished one at that. He somehow has everything but very well lacks everything. Your grace, I spoke of earlier, keeps steering him to the path of greatness, but those guiding him keep taking him trough tortuous roads that descend through valleys of pestilence, perdition and ruinous politics. And they lie a lot; both to you my Lord, and to him and his people, that is we the ordinary people of Nigeria. That is why I want to particularly alert you with this missive; that they are heightening their deceptions, lies and deliberate punishment of the people through politics and religion. Politicians, who swear falsely to your name on assumption of office, are once again gathering to celebrate ‘our strides so far’ to nowhere!
And my Lord, these ‘strides’ include a CHANGE that is increasingly shortchanging your hapless children here, after coming through lies and falsehood. When they had used their brooms to rip apart the already torn umbrella some of their friends had held over our head, rather than a thorough and clean sweep they had promised, we are instead being blinded by the rubbish they have been sweeping into our eyes, to prevent us from seeing through their grand deception. My Lord, they had told us your children were abducted from Chibok and they would find them in no time. Hardly did we know ‘no time’ was indeed never. They said they would make our Naira equal the Dollar. Today, a heap of Naira is less than one Dollar. Yet, they would be celebrating our strides in fifty-five years. You would soon hear their noise in those churches and mosques manned by Satan himself.
My Lord, O yes, I have to report our politicians to you. They are scourging us instead of soothing us. They are giving us stone for bread they have long cornered for themselves. Jesus, come to our rescue! They have stolen us blind. Those we elected to lead us are leading us to nowhere near succor or hope but the wilderness, worse and more empty than where the devil had encountered you (and like their evil master they shall fail). They have redefined democracy to mean government of themselves by themselves for themselves (and of course their families and cronies). Did you see the list of what was alleged to belong to Saraki alone? My Lord, how could he have earned all of those when he was never a businessman that manufactured or sold anything? You blessed him, as those of his ilk use to say? By pushing their sticky fingers into our treasure pot many eventually got to take home, to their bedrooms? I am not saying anybody is a thief. After all they had told us corruption is not stealing, but my Lord is it the poor or the powerful and mighty that have stolen Nigeria bare?
What about those big posts that should have been shared round? Lord, please, ask Buhari why it is only his Hausa Fulani that is fit to rule the rest of us with him. Okay, so we are cows they had to herd? And talking about the Fulani and nama; Dear Lord, they have become something else everywhere they now go; traveling hundreds of miles, to bring death and sorrow to people they sack from their ancestral land. What they do with their cow shows clearly they were never there when you created man and told him all the animals and beasts were beneath him. The Fulani has made us lesser mortals to their animals. Ask your children in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, and indeed the rest of the Sothern part of Nigeria. Man now only eats what the cattle have left for him in his own farm. Any complain is visited with hellish brutality by nomads that no longer carry the sticks and umbrella you had given them. Ask them where they got those AK 47 rifles they now maraud the bush with, as only recently, you my Lord had to intervene about Chief Olu Falae they nearly untimely bundled back to you.
Finally, I will not end this important letter without reporting those people who call your names in vain; using it to do all sorts of things against us. They are both Christians and Muslims. I am sure your brother and friend, Mohammed (PBUH) is also aware of these. Both of you should know a lot are stealing and killing, and dividing us in your names. They steal money, wives and even children. Some have stolen a whole family from their relations, and even whole communities from the rest of their people, and even a whole generation of our people they have and continued to misguide with falsehood, trickery and suspect ideologies. Many criminals are buying the latest private jets, buying half of the shares and properties sold in the international markets, while falsely peddling your name they use to deceive the people. It is terrible and as such, I beg you to Save Our Souls now from these political and religious hypocrites and vultures feasting off our half dead nation they are falsely celebrating today. Even though Nigeria, as it is today, had not been our choice, only you can help us to make it better and the envy of the world, beginning from this our 55th anniversary. But that can only be, when the Devil and his agents tormenting us are cast away into the pit of hell you so rightfully reserved for them.

Support for the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa mounted on Saturday as prominent Sapele political leaders lauded his leadership qualities, saying he is running a government based on honesty and fairness.
The leaders also praised the Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Ovwigho Igbuya for his contributions to the development of Sapele.
“The contributions of Rt. Honourable Ovwigho Igbuya to the development of Sapele are impossible to estimate. He has the interests of all in mind” the leaders said.
Seeing Governor Okowa and Rt. Hon Igbuya in a positive light, the leaders in a statement issued by the spokesperson of Sapele Political Forum (SPF), Mr. Michael Ohwoworode said “the PDP government is providing basic infrastructure with a view to stimulating growth and development in the state, particularly Sapele”.
Calling the Rt. Hon Speaker a leader with character, courage and conviction, the leaders said “In Delta State, we have seen hopes maturing to reality. The government has put smiles on the faces of the people by executing programmes that have direct impact in the lives of the people”.
The leaders who described Okowa’s performance as encouraging commended him for creating opportunities for the people and providing meaningful developmental projects across the state as well as ensuring equity and fairness in appointment to political offices.
“Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa appointed Sapele people into key positions of his administration. He is renovating Sapele Technical College. He is desirous of completing the Sapele Market, Sapele Township Stadium and Adeola Road. He is also eager dualize the Sapele – Warri Road and Sapele-Benin Road. Okowa wants to make Delta State stable and prosperous. He is moving with great zeal and vigour to make the difference” they said.
“We have a governor with a listening ear. We have a governor that is committed to the development of the state. The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Henry Ebireri on Thursday, dismissed allegation that Hon. Igbuya Monday hated women and urged women to think of ways of claiming more space and opportunities in the country, particularly Delta State.
In a statement issued in Asaba, the Chief Press Secretary thanked the civil society organizations for championing gender equality and women’s empowerment.
‘We need to work towards increasing the number of women in decision making positions, parliament and other governmental positions. We need to create more awareness and support women seeking elective positions’’ the statement said.
“Mr. Speaker is a promoter of women’s participation in politics, governance and all walks of specializations. He respects women. He knows their importance and will continue to protect women’s rights” the statement said.
Ebireri who also identified the prevailing exclusion or limited participation of women in politics and governance, the norms, customs and traditions of our society as challenges facing women in the country, appealed to women rights group to put forward proposals on women can be fully supported, in order to flourish and function without sense of exclusion.

Following the revelation by Chief Olu Falae that money was paid for his release, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has dissociated the police from the alleged ransom payment.
Sun Newspapers reports that the police, in a rejoinder titled: Re: Ransom Payment By The Family Of Chief Olu Falae, promised to investigate the alleged payment of ransom.
The rejoinder reads “Whatever the family did as regards payment of ransom was outside the knowledge and consent of the police and at this point, we wish to advice that in future, families who fall victims of such acts should rather work closely with the police component of the rescue initiative so that we can achieve the primary purpose of rescuing the victim alive instead of wittingly or unwittingly giving the impression of encouraging criminal activity by rewarding criminals with payment of ransom.
“In this instance, having confirmed that ransom was paid to the abductors, the police will be interested in widening their investigative scope with a view to exploring the lead further to regard to how payment was made and to whom such payment was made.
“If the payment was perfected through bank transactions, the police have the capacity to track such transaction and will be liasing with the bank to enable us track the cash and apprehend the perpetrators. This could be an added lead that could strengthen ongoing post kidnapping efforts of the police”.

The Defence Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, said Boko Haram insurgents would face increased military assaults if they refused to surrender their arms and embrace peace.
In a statement released to the press, the Army HQ said they have finalised plans to block th escape routes of the terrorists.
This is contained in a statement signed by Col. Rabe Abubakar, acting Director, Defence Information, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Abubakar, the Nigerian Armed Forces are committed to continue the ongoing coordinated joint assaults on the insurgents in the North-East.
“The military is committed to continue the coordinated assaults on Boko Haram members in the North-East until the operation of guerrillas is totally impaired and collapsed.
“The operation of the security forces in the contested area is designed to dismantle technical preeminence and capabilities of the terrorist groups.
“For optimum success in the counter offensive, 7 Brigade of the Multinational Joint Task Force(MNJTF), in the Lake Chad Basin will ensure a total blockade of terrorists escape route,” he said.
Abubakar added that the efforts would forestall further infiltration of the terrorist elements into the country and its neighbours.
The statement warned the sect members to stop their mindless act of violence and embrace peace in order to become useful citizens with positive contribution.

President Buhari, while speaking at the New York at the Global Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism called on United Nations member nations to assist in the recovery of stolen funds.
Buhari said “Good governance, which entails transparency, accountability and rule of law, remains the basis on which we should kick-start the process of ridding the world of the menace of terrorism and violent extremism.”
Adding that “The international community will be required to work together to deter and disrupt illicit financial flows from nations with weak anti–theft structures to other parts of the world. Where such funds are identified, the victim state should be assisted to recover them expeditiously.”

The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Haruna Jauro, has debunked claims that ex-militant, Tompolo’s contract with the agency has been terminated by the Federal Government.
According to ThisDay Newspapers, Jauro said this while meeting with the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, at Naval Headquarters, Abuja.
He said Tompolo’s contract will run for ten years.
Speaking on the terms of the contract, vis-a-vis the duties of the Navy, Jauro said “It does not. Yes, it does not because the Navy is one of its kind and no one is willing to go there and take anything from them.”
Adding that “What Global West is doing is just to help NIMASA to look a the issue of that takes place in the waters, to push them back and I think we have done our best with them. So far the level of piracy has reduced in the Lagos area.”
“We don’t have much reports of them again and they have been pushed towards the Delta area and we have been following them. And I think Global West has been instrumental to that so far. It (the contract) is supposed to be for ten years. It has run for three years,” he said.
Tompolo’s company, Global West Vessels Specialists Limited, was contracted by NIMASA to help curb oil theft in the Niger-Delta water-ways.
