Can Nnamdi Kanu wear Odumegwu Ojukwu’s shoe?

Read Time:4 Minute, 2 Second

After the demise of Obejiri na mma-agha Ndigbo, Eze Igbo Gburugburu and Ikemba Nnewi, Prophet, and future-teller Chukwuemeka ODUMEGWU Ojukwu, Igbos has wandered in the forest like animal that escaped from the zoo with no bush or forest in sight that could serve as a natural inhabitant.
image

Due to the gap created by his demise, Igbos became the most ridiculed tribe in Nigeria. The most humiliating insults came from two prominent Yoruba’s: Oba of Lagos and Professor Soyinka. Each took turns to lambast Ndigbo. The crime of the Igbos is because for the first time in history, they decided to vote with one voice; a fit other tribes accuse Ndigbo of lacking. With this rare achievement, other Nigerians became jittery. The Oba of Lagos threatened that Igbos would be drawn in the lagoon while Soyinka lampooned them as a tribe that votes based on monetary inducement. An allegation he denied and promised to support his denial with videotape. A promise he failed to fulfill till date.

Prior to this sad event, numerous moneybag elders, politicians and some former Governors (excluding Peter Obi) have all claimed to be Igbo leaders. They assembled themselves, collect money on behalf of Igbos and disappear. Two particular Arthurs, one from Anambra, and the other from Imo state are familiar with this leadership style. Even Uwazulike, the leader of MASSOB it was alleged collected huge sums of money from the government to whittle the efficacy of the peaceful secession demand. The news of his perfidy attracted serious condemnation and disappointment. To gain more support since his support from Igbo professionals has dwindled, he quickly ran to Eze Nri to be crowned with late Ojukwu’s title Eze Igbo Gburugburu ii. That attempt failed and made his agitation powerless.

All these occurred because Igbos as a people doesn’t believe in self-imposed leaders. Igbos follows leaders who without the intention to lead has played significant leadership role without asking to be a leader. One who at a given time filled the gap Ikemba created and made sound decision representing the views of the marginalized people of Igboland.

Mr. Nnamdi Kanu started his call for Biafra by distinctly setting up Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB) after distintively identifying the gaps MASSOB created in their style of agitation and proactively closed such gaps. Gaps where intellectuals and professionals from Ndigbo has no role to play towards the actualization of Biafra, the dream of most Igbo man was perfectly identified and managed. He gave people who he believes know better than him listening ears for guidance. Nnamdi Kanu moved by exemplifying himself as a transformational leader against the previous transactional leaders that use the Biafra agitation as a cash cow, milking the Federal the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Nnamdi Kanu has epitomized himself as the rightful vertical replacement for Eze Igbo Gburugburu. He controls same mammoth crowd Ikemba Nnewi controls. He is eloquent and full of youthful aggression.

Recall that Ojukwu was never the political leader of Ndigbo, Nnamdi Azikiwe was while Ojukwu was the one controlling the crowd. Today, we have a political leader of Ndigbo in the person of Peter Obi the former governor of Anambra state playing the role of Nnamdi Azikiwe while Nnamdi Kanu aptly replacing the feared Odumegwu.

While this article is not in anywhere trying to suggest that Mr. Kanu can comfortably wear the shoe ODUMEGWU left. The shoe is too big for anybody to wear. However, Nnamdi can wear the shoe by padding it if he tones down his language especially when addressing other regions that made up of Nigeria.

If we recall, Ojukwu never used a caustic word to address Awolowo who betrayed him and inflicted so much pain and hunger to Ndigbo. Rather when OJUKWU heard of the demise of Chief Awolowo from this world said, ” Nigeria just lost a great gem”. He was later quoted that Awolowo was the best President Nigeria never had. Throughout his time, he never called Gowon names. He was a friend to late Emir Ade Bayero. Lagos state even returned back his Ikoyi residence.

Therefore, Nnamdi must sustain the Biafra agitation. However, we implore him to reduce drastically the caustic nature of Radio Biafra. Even from a PR perspective, abusive language is one of the deterrent appeal and continuous use of such would carve out the important people who will come up with strategic solutions that can move the agitation from the current phase to the next phase.

In conclusion, I commend Nnamdi’s astuteness, zeal and would want to tell him in Phyno’s voice that ihe balu aba-abago. The message is sinking massively and the combination of Sahara Reporters and Premium times cannot stop this rejuvenated moving train.

Ex-Minister Ogunlewe of Works blames Jonathan for PDP’s fall

Read Time:1 Minute, 23 Second

An ex-Minister of Works and onetime Senator, Adeseye Ogunlewe has blamed the immediate former president, Goodluck Jonathan for the fall of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

In an interview with Vangaurd, Ogunlewe stressed that the defeat of the political party at the 2015 general election started rearing its head when supporters of PDP said they were finding it difficult in the North to campaign because the Northerners believed they had been short-changed.

In his words, 'The defeat of the 2015 election was caused by Jonathan. If not, it is impossible to defeat PDP.   Look at all the people that are playing games now including the governors, the Senate President, Speaker and others, they were from PDP. So, it is the majority party and it is going to come on board. We need Buhari now, no doubt, to straighten things out. And let us have a new direction to governance in the country.'

Speaking further, Ogunlewe said, 'I was a member of the presidential campaign team in 2011 and this sentiment of the North being short-changed was discussed extensively by the Northerners. The supporters of PDP said they were finding it difficult in the North to campaign because the Northerners believed they had been short-changed. They said, it was their turn to be President.   So, if it were possible, Jonathan shouldn’t have contested and it would have been easy for PDP. This sentiment will never happen again in this country. When you are zoning, let the zone bring the candidate.'

A Federal High Court in Rivers State has been rocked by an explosion which occurred outside its premises.

The blast reportedly occurred near the court, sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital, today, July 9, 2015.

Security operatives are said to have flooded the area to maintain law and order, according to Vanguard.

Presiding judge of the court, Justice Lambo Akonbi this morning dissolved 22 local government councils in the state saying that the decision of the Rotimi Amaechi administration to go ahead with the council elections despite a court order asking all parties to maintain status quo was a flagrant abuse of court process and disregard for rule of law.

No casualty was recorded in the explosion.

Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari and vice president, Yemi Osinbajo have slashed their salary by 50 per cent.

The duo announced their decision to take only 50 per cent of the salary approved for them by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission in a statement on Friday, July 10, 2015.

The statement, which was made available by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, revealed that Buhari would earn N7m per year throughout his four years tenure as against the approved N14,058,820.00 by RMAFC.

Shehu said the President’s decision to cut his salary by half had been conveyed to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Nebolisa Emodi.

While Shehu didn't disclose the reason behind the decision in his statement, he hinted that Buhari was sending a clear message to Nigerians on the need to make sacrifices for the nation.

'That voluntary action of the President is pregnant with meaning. It is a message of sacrifice for national development. Since the President has done this for himself, he is expecting that others will join him in making sacrifices for their fatherland,' Shehu told Punch.

This is coming barely three days after Buhari turned down an offer by the Federal Government to procure five new armoured Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use.

President Buhari’s ‘son’ arrested for defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

A scam artist who posed as the son of President Muhammadu Buhari so as to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians with the promises of giving them lucrative contracts from the government, has been arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

A statement from the FCT SARS say the suspect has continuously promised to secure contracts for his victims from the president, saying he had made billions of naira through this illicit venture.

He was also dropping names of top politicians and businessmen to convince his victims, often wielding superimposed photos of himself with the president and other top politicians.

The statement reads:

“He mostly approached big contractors, who were desperate to see the president or any of the governors. He would put fake calls across to the supposed politicians in the presence of his victims and convince them to book appointments.

From there, he would demand that the politician’s security officials needed to be settled with huge amounts of money before the contractor would be granted audience with the president or the governor.”

But the fake president's son ran into troubled waters when a duped contractor, after waiting for many weeks without getting to see the president as promised by the hoodlum, reported his ordeal to the police, complaining that after collecting lots of money from him, the scammer was yet to take him to the president.

To the surprise of the police operatives, the suspect turned out to be a criminal who has been on their wanted list for similar offences in the past.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT command, Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed the story, saying that acting on a tipoff, SARS operatives arrested the suspect on Saturday, July 4, at about 2 am.

“The truth is that the suspect had defrauded so many people. To perfect his act, he paraded himself as the son of the president. Three Mercedez Benz and one Peugeot 406 cars were recovered from him as exhibits."
