Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari who was billed to address other African Leaders at the ongoing African Union Summit in South Africa failed to show up to give his address.

In a press statement signed by the President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina and made available to the press on Friday the Presidency announced that the President will be attending the summit in South Africa to discuss the unity and development of the continent. However, the President was conspicuously missing from the summit.

The proceedings monitored by LEAK TIMES on the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Network shows that the President address was read on his behalf by a representative.

In the welcome address President Buhari stated that ”Nigeria will support acceleration of Nepad programs, including work on the trans Sahara highway”

LEAK TIMES recalls that former President Jonathan came under massive public condemnation in 2013 when he failed to deliver his inaugural address at the 50th AU summit in Addis Ababa.

Wike, you cannot mock God!

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 59 Second

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7

The All Progressives Congress, APC has noted with dismay the decision of the accidental care-taker governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike to mock God, the church of Christ and a noble man of God.

It is clear that the decision of Nyesom Wike and his motley gang of buccaneers to insist on holding a thanksgiving service at the Salvation Ministries, Port Harcourt was mainly to mock the man of God, the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor David Ibiyieomie who had, in the past, made it clear that no Ogboni man will ever rule Rivers State.

Knowing very well that no man of God will reject even the worst sinner from worshipping in his church – genuinely or just a make-believe as in this case – Nyesom Wike abandoned all his friendly pastors and their churches to insist on holding a thanksgiving service in Salvation Ministries led by a genuine man of God who is vocal in his opposition to evil people ruling Rivers State. The purpose for that action was, no doubt, to acquire saintly legitimacy for himself and his care-taker government.

The idea by the Wike team was to use one stone to kill several birds. Firstly, it was to make the man of God, Pastor David Ibiyeomie to appear to eat his words since he would deliver a sermon during the service. Secondly, was to woo the teeming membership of the church. Thirdly, was to mock God.

That action of Wike brings several questions to discerning minds. Does Nyesom Wike really believe that God can be deceived, bought or mocked? Does he think that Pastor David Ibiyeomie is in the league of those men of God whom he has been fraternizing with? How come Wike did not hold his thanks-giving service at any one of those churches where he had promised landed property and Certificate of Occupancy [C of O]?

Again, it is pertinent to remind Nyesom Wike that the good Lord has declared in Proverb 15:8 that, “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.”

Barr. Nyesom Wike should know that he must first seek the forgiveness of God for the innocent blood of Nigerians he took away in course of his quest for power. Their blood will continue to cry to the Heavens for justice. And as long as that continues, he will never know peace, even as he pretended to smile on the podium on 29th May. The blood of the innocent will continue to trouble him both in his sleep or even while awake. Like in Shakespeare’s epic, Macbeth: "Glamis hath murder'd sleep, and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more; Macbeth shall sleep no more."

The APC, Rivers State would like to advise Wike to continue to appease the god he knows for our God is beyond deceit by mortal man. Indeed the accidental care-taker governor should always remember that his days as governor will soon pass away like the falling of a leaf. He should first seek God’s repentance before attempting to set off sacrifice of burnt offering. It is only a matter of time for the prophetic statement of the respected man of God, Pastor David Ibiyeomie to manifest.

Wike to bankroll PDP opposition activities with R/S resources

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 10 Second

Barely 72 hours after being sworn-in as accidental care-taker governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike has accepted to bankroll the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in the new dispensation with the lean resources of Rivers State.

To chart the way on his new mission, he obtained a loan on behalf of the state government running into hundreds of millions of Naira out of which he used a lion share of it to bribe PDP hierarchy to move the party's retreat which was originally billed for Akwa Ibom State to now hold in Rivers State just to shore up his fledgling and battered image as a stand-in governor.

It is clear that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has concluded plans to fritter away the meagre resources of Rivers state as the party has decided to relocate its headquarters from Abuja to Port Harcourt.

During the retreat held by the chequered and fractured leadership of the party which took place in the state capital barely 72 hours after Chief Nyesom Wike was sworn-in as the Governor, the outgoing Senate President, David Mark had declared that the state has now become the headquarters of the opposition with the governor as the face of opposition.

We are not in doubt as to why Gov. Wike whose mandate is to be decided by the courts decided to host the parley for the party which lost favour with Nigerians after 16 years of dismal performance.

The governor who in the past accused his former boss and predecessor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi of using state funds to sponsor the APC has within 3 days of being in office, displayed his penchant for wasting government money at any given opportunity.

The reason for the choice of Rivers state as the PDP operational headquarters only goes to show that the treasury of the state has again been hijacked by the same cabal who have regrouped to continue with their old business of milking the state dry.

The APC would like to ask Rivers people whose right to choose a credible governor as well as representatives were brazenly trampled upon during the last general elections, to rise up immediately to the occasion to stop this impunity.

With the relocation of the PDP from Abuja to Rivers state, it is now clear to the PDP that Nigerians have rejected them after 16 years of power and the resulting economic mishap which our nation is faced with at the moment.

Amaechi Predicted Buhari’s Victory Two Years Ago – Eze

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 26 Second

Former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, foresaw the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari two years before he made history as the first Nigerian to defeat a sitting President in an election. This was disclosed by an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, who is also a close ally of Amaechi.

According to Eze in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, “When it comes to believing in the abilities of President Buhari, I am yet to see anyone who can rival Amaechi. His love for Buhari and strong belief in his ability to take Nigeria out of the woods is like an obsession.

“I can still vividly remember how Amaechi predicted Buhari’s emergence as President during the early days of APC and long before the issue who would fly the party’s flag came up. When on 9th September, 2013 my appointment as the National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was announced to Nigerians the only brief I received was the 30 minutes encounter I had with Governor Amaechi. During that encounter he kept repeating that whenever General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) accepted to fly the flag of the emergent mega opposition political party in the country, the unseating of President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP would become a reality. I was deeply impressed by his strong belief in General Buhari. It was based on this that I went boldly into the field and with the cooperation of the G7 Governors and other leaders of the New PDP, we were able to dismantle what was the famous and largest political party in Africa (PDP).”

Eze noted that Amaechi pursued Buhari’s emergence as APC presidential candidate with evangelical zeal after New PDP joined APC. “This obsession explains why Amaechi did all within his powers to ensure that Buhari emerged as the flag bearer of APC during the Lagos Convention and, as the Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, worked even harder to ensure the ouster of former president Goodluck Jonathan during the March 28, 2015 presidential election,” Chief Eze said.

He stated that if not for the emergence of Buhari as President, Jonathan and his cohorts would have arrested and jailed Amaechi for championing the defeat of his own brother from the Niger Delta.

Chief Eze commended Buhari for his vision for a greater Nigeria as espoused in his Inaugural Address and his early steps since he assumed office last Friday. “Nigerians should be patient and pray for Buhari’s success. He is the best man for the job but he cannot do it alone, hence the need for all of us to give him the necessary support to deliver the dividends of democracy,” he stated.

FG should investigate Wike over N87bn, NDDC jobs

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 55 Second

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has demanded for the probe of Mr. Ezebuwon Nyesom Wike as Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Education. The party, in making the call, asserted that such exercise would no doubt strengthen the anti-corruption fight in the country much as it will expose the rot perpetuated under the guise of the Almajiri school scheme, the Universal Basic Education, UBEC, and the TETFUND under Wike’s watch. “That Wike has left office as Minister of State(Education), does not cancel the fact and effect of the alleged fraud”, APC added, citing the case of Mr. Kashim Buruji as a good reference of an accused facing justice years after. “If Mr. Kashim Buruji today faces extradition to the United States to face drug-related charges years after the alleged crime was committed, Nigeria’s Federal Government can as well call Wike to account for his actions or inactions when he served as Minister for State(Education)|”.

In a statement in Port Harcourt on Wednesday signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, APC said Nigerians need to know that under Wike, as a junior minister in the Ministry of Education, corruption was elevated to a culture. Continuing, APC noted that about N87billion was yet to be accounted for under Wike. “It took Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau as Minister of Education to unearth the shady deals Wike knew but invariably participated in, to be exposed. But since Wike was then under the cover of a President who condoned corruption, the deals never received serious attention. Wike needs to be called to account for the N87billion and where necessary face justice”, the party argued.

Questioning what became of the over N20 billion voted for the purchase of books for Federal Government institutions, APC tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to recover the missing sums.

“We doubt Wike at any time furnished Federal Government-owned schools’ libraries with books. Therefore, the only thing left to do is to demand an account on how the allotted money was used as virtually every FG school library shelves remain empty of books”.

On further need why Wike should be probed, Rivers APC said the former junior minister cornered several contracts from NDDC, an action in itself, unbecoming of a public servant. “We are aware that Wike received several contracts worth billions of Naira from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, which were not executed. The huge rip-off of Niger Delta people was basically to equip Wike with a large war chest for the 2015 general election. True to his nature, Wike abandoned the contracts and pocketed the money thereby fleecing the Nigerian Government and people of billions of Naira. Wike connived with his crony who is the Director of Finance and Administration in the Commission to receive full payments for contracts never executed”.

APC, which accused Wike of further heating the fragile political atmosphere in Rivers State through his unguarded utterances and ill-thought actions since May 29, warned against turning Rivers state into a tyrant’s enclave.

“Wike is indebted to Nigeria’s government, having dipped his hands into its treasury questionably, corruptly enriching himself. His actions have further impoverished Nigerians and his questionable lifestyle and source of income should be investigated. The best time to do so is now”, APC averred.

Wike not ready for governance, says rivers APC•Accuses him of running motor park administration

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 4 Second

Chief Nyesom Wike, who was sworn-in as Rivers State Governor last week Friday, is not ready for the job, the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said. Rivers APC in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, and issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt, described Wike’s one week as governor as a disaster foretold, accusing him of running a motor park administration.

According to Rivers APC, “The first one week of Wike’s administration has vindicated our well-known stand that he is not prepared for governance and would be a disaster if he accidentally found himself in power – as has now happened courtesy of his unjust declaration as governor by Rivers INEC. His first seven days in office prove beyond reasonable doubt that he is not ready for governance.

“What is being witnessed in Rivers State under Wike’s watch makes the heart to bleed; it is, for want of a better phrase, motor park type of administration. While it is true that Wike never had a programme for Rivers State, we had expected him to attempt to implement the Roadmap for Rivers Development, which he copied from our governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, but he could not as a poor student demonstrate an idea of what governance is all about. All that Wike is busy doing since he assumed office is telling the world that Amaechi did this and Amaechi did not do this. If immediate past Governor Chibuike Amaechi is the sole agenda of Chief Wike, then INEC has done an irrevocable damage on Rivers State and her people by imposing Wike, who lacks a basic understanding of what it takes to govern a complex state like Rivers.”

Lamenting the fate that has befallen Rivers State, Dr. Ikanya said: “If one considers the seriousness which many newly elected governors in the country have demonstrated by setting out targets to achieve within their first one hundred days in day, then it becomes obvious that a great tragedy has befallen Rivers State in the person of Chief Wike. Apart from dreaming of Amaechi anytime he closes his eyes which he does at most of the public functions he attends, Wike is busy intimidating banks, permanent secretaries and civil servants in Rivers State and allotting to himself the status of Sole Signatory to the bank accounts of all the government agencies in the State, including Local Government Councils’ Accounts. These steps, apart from being inimical to the peace and progress of Rivers State, have put the State in bad light both nationally and internationally.”

Rivers APC appealed to the people of the State to bear whatever pains Wike inflicts on them as these are temporary since he will soon be removed by the Election Petition Tribunal as he never won any election in the first place.

“Meanwhile, we wish to advise Chief Wike to stop chasing shadows and cease his unwarranted attacks on Rt. Hon. Amaechi, who by the grace of God has become an institution in the politics of Nigeria and hundreds of Wikes cannot run him down. Let us warn that any further disparaging attacks on the person of Amaechi will no longer be tolerated as we have enough materials with which to rubbish Chief Wike,” Rivers APC stated. If he doubts this, let him call Amaechi in any of his misguided utterances again and see the exposure of his evil acts.

Lagos west senator elect decries petrol tanker accidents in his constituency

Read Time:1 Minute, 39 Second

The Senator elect for Lagos West Senatorial District, Hon. Solomon Adeola has again expressed sadness and commiseration to his constituents on yet another petrol tanker accident at Idimu in his Alimosho Federal constituency where about 40 houses were burnt and property worth millions of naira destroyed.

This is the second accident in less than a week following the petrol tanker accident at Iyana-Ipaja Bridge axis of his senatorial district where properties and residential buildings worth millions of naira were lost to the ensuing inferno.

The Senator Elect who is the outgoing representative of Alimosho Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives said the recurrence of these accidents requires the government at all levels to take a holistic look at the mode of transportation of highly inflammable material through densely populated areas as well as compensatory system through insurance when such accidents occurred.

Senator Elect Adeola said these accidents are unfortunate at this trying period of the nation with serious hardship being experienced by the people on all fronts adding that it is his hope that the relevance agencies of government at state and Federal level should do all in its power to ameliorate the huge losses suffered by the people as a result of this accident.

Hon. Adeola further call on relevant regulatory agencies to come up with policies on the control and maintenance of articulated vehicles carrying inflammable materials like petrol as most of the accidents relating to such vehicles could be traced to lack of maintenance as well as their hours of operation in densely populated areas like Alimosho.

The Senator elect called on men of The Nigerian Police and other security agencies on our roads to exercise utmost restraints in their dealings with drivers of these articulated vehicles as the accident was reported to be related to altercations between the Police and the driver of the ill-fated truck.

Electoral fraud: APC commends IGP for ordering probe of Rivers and Akwa Ibom RECS

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 0 Second

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has welcomed the order by the Inspector of General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, that the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Gesila Khan, and her Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Barr. Austin Eni Okojie, be investigated for electoral fraud.

The party in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, and issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday, described the probe of the two electoral umpires as a bold step which would help to bring sanity to the electoral process and cleanse the shame which they have brought to the country’s nascent democracy.

“The news of the probe ordered by IGP Arase came to us as a big relief. We commend the IGP for this bold step. We have shouted ourselves hoarse since the March 28 and April 11 elections, calling for the investigation of the Rivers REC, a disreputable woman who is supposed to be in jail for the needless pains she has caused Rivers State people by brazenly manipulating the results of the last elections in the State to favour the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates. The juicy cars and the new lifestyle of this greedy woman must be investigated and the sources of her newfound wealth exposed,” Rivers APC said.

The party slammed Mrs. Khan for contriving the charade that saw to the death of hundreds of Rivers people and the imposition of Chief Nyesom Wike, who has no agenda for administering the State, as its Governor. “The final destination of Mrs. Khan should be no other place than the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison in Lagos and that is where we will make sure she spends the greater part of her years for the shame and pains she has undeservedly inflicted on Rivers State,” the party said.

It vowed to ensure that no stone is left unturned until the Rivers REC is brought to justice, saying: “Surely, there is no escape route for this evil woman, as we are making arrangements to sue her for the deaths and pains she brought to Rivers State and her people by organising the worst election in the annals of elections in Nigeria.”

Election Tribunal: PDP members caught thumb-printing ballot papers in Rivers

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 31 Second

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm after a group of people were caught thumb-printing fresh ballot papers in parts of the State under the supervision of local leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

The alarm was contained in a press statement signed by Rivers State APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, and issued in the State capital, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.

“We wish to alert the security agencies and the Nigerian public of the on-going thumb-printing of fresh ballot papers in different homes in Degema, Port Harcourt, Obio Akpor and Okrika. We identified well known PDP members among those perpetuating this evil act aimed at subverting the will of the Rivers State electorate, whose mandate to our great party during the last general elections was brazenly stolen by the PDP in connivance with Rivers INEC.

We suspect that they are doing this in a desperate bid to manufacture ‘evidence’ to be presented before the Election Petition Tribunal, which we expect to do the right thing by annulling the wrongful announcement of Chief Nyesom Wike as winner of the April 11 gubernatorial election and ordering the restoration of the mandate of our great party and our distinguished governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside,” Ikanya said in the statement.

Rivers APC lamented that it recently raised a similar alarm as it relates to the ticking of fresh voters registers, filling of new result sheets and incident forms in different hotels around Port Harcourt, regretting that neither the security agencies nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) care to act on our complaint. The party, however, appealed to its members to continue to remain calm, as it has confidence in the election tribunal which is handling the case.

APC condemns blatant dismantling of state structures by Wike

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 41 Second

The All Progressives Congress [APC], Rivers State Chapter has condemned in the strongest terms, what it described as the wanton and illegal dismantling of state structures by the care-taker governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike.

“The opening stanza of Wike’s journey down the impunity road took a turn for the worse last night when, a few hours after the newly convened Rivers State House of Assembly of slapstick comedians held a Kangaroo session claiming to investigate the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission [RSIEC] and the Rivers State Judicial Commission, recommended the dissolution of the two bodies. A couple of hours later, Chief Wike announced the dissolution of the two commissions despite the fact that their tenures are guaranteed by law”, the publicity secretary of Rivers APC, Mr Chris Finebone said in a press statement today.

The party observed that the signs that the RSHA was acting out a script of the governor was all too glaring early in the day when the oddball assembly men conducted a rather hatchet session demanding on-the-spot explanation about discreet financial figures concerning costs of the last Local Council elections despite the fact that no advanced notice was issued availed the Chairman of RSIEC, Prof Augustine Ahiauzu and the Commissioners to come with such requirements to the sitting.

The statement read:

“The orgy of illegality now being unfolded in Rivers State has not come as a surprise to peace loving Rivers people especially members of the APC given the antecedents, character and track record of Chief Nyesom Wike especially within the milieu of governance and politics.

“The APC would like to remind Chief Wike that we are clearly aware that he is bent on gradually dismantling structures of government in Rivers State with a view to conducting his well-planned programme of vendetta, witch-hunting and reprisal against the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his supporters. We would also like to remind him that as much as he is set to please his sadistic inner being screaming for the heads of the innocent, he should remember, that that which he keeps the female, the male is residing elsewhere.

“Let it be known to the caretaker governor of Rivers State, that even as he is at liberty to strut the political space of Rivers State for the next few months as governor, morning shall come even more sooner than later.

“Again, it is important to remind Chief Wike that if he insists on continuing on his path of infamy, trying to victimise and primitively take revenge on Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his supporters, he will fail woefully because Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has moved to a higher level and never will share same life station with the caretaker governor in life ever.

“The APC will employ all necessary means within the law to resist and derail Nyesom Wike’s train of impunity which he has just unveiled. The APC shall stop him and his motley band of political jesters from unleashing their orgy of vendetta on the good people of Rivers State
