The parents of Praise Omohimoria, a 14-month-old baby who has a hole in his heart, have appealed to kind hearted Nigerians, NGOs, organizations and corporate bodies to help the raise the required about N7 million to facilitate a corrective surgery abroad.

The boy's father, Vincent Omohimoria, who is from Benin, Edo State, says that his son’s health condition was evaluated at the Paediatric Cardiology Unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) by a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist, Professor Wilson Sadoh, and has advised the family that for the boy to live, he must undergo a surgery to correct the defect.

According to the father, Praise has been a patient at the UBTH, Ugbowo, since birth and the family has run out of funds to treat him.

Omohimoria said the evaluation carried out last week revealed a congenital heart disease or hole-in-the-heart.

"The hospital said that my son’s life is at risk and that he is likely to have heart failure because of the hole in his heart. The doctor also said the heart is failing very fast."

He added that the doctor also said Praise would need to be flown abroad for corrective heart surgery and that the estimates for the procedure would amount to about $10,000. That amount, according to him, does not include travelling expenses, airfares and accommodation.

He displayed a medical report of a repeat echo cardiogram at the UBTH, which was carried out on February 9, 2015, with the report showing a '10.3mm secundum type, Atrial Septal Defect shunting from left to right, the right Atrium is markedly enlarged and fractional shunting 50.3 per cent.'

It was a show of shame as two paramilitary officers from the State Security Service (SSS), and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), threw caution to the wind and engaged one another in a public fight in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, opposite the Eagle Square, Abuja, in the afternoon of Thursday, March 12, 2015.

According to Leadership Newspaper, the trouble started when the SSS official was confronted by the Civil Defense officer after he parked his car wrongly, thereby violating traffic regulations leading to a build-up that blocked both ends of the square.

The SSS officer would not take such a reprimand from a member of a unit he feels inferior to him and a heated argument ensued which led to tempers flaring.

The SSS man was said to be the first to slap the NSCDC and the infuriated man retaliated with some body blows and the SSS guy fell to the ground.

The two grabbed at each other and fought wildly before they were separated.

Over 200 witch doctors rounded up in Tanzania

0 0
Read Time:56 Second

Over 200 witch doctors have been rounded up in Tanzania as part of a campaign against the wave of murders and attacks targeted on albinos.

The operation was carried out in several regions in the East African country that saw about 225 unlicensed traditional healers and soothsayers. This operation will be extended to cover all 30 regions of the country.

The arrests comes only a few days after the President Jakaya Kikwete remarked about the attacks against albinos saying they were “disgusting and a big embarrassment for the nation”.

At least 76 albinos have been killed since 2000 for diabolical purposes with dismember body parts going for around $600 and full bodies going for as much as $75,000. Another 34 albinos have survived attacks after their body parts have been caught up with almost half that number in cases of graves of albinos being dug up.

Albinism is only a genetic and hereditary condition where a person has little or no pigmentation in their skin, eyes, and hair. There is a high number of albinos in Tanzania mostly caused by in-breeding.

Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, the daughter of the former Governor of Oyo State, Victor Olunloyo, is one lady who cannot do without controversies.

And she has dropped another bombshell, calling her father a ritualist who destroyed his family with rituals, killing his children and generally cowing his family with his highhandedness.

The journalist and right activist, in a series of tweets, say she and her family would release a documentary on the atrocities of their father who will turn 80 years in a few weeks time.

Kemi said her family have suffered emotional abuse from her father and is now time to let the whole world know the kind of man his elder statesman of her father is.

The Twitter rampage reveals a lot about a family she clearly calls disjointed, including her father threatening to kill her.

Dog kicked by car owner returns with pack

Read Time:31 Second

We have heard of human revolts, but what of animal revolts?

A man in China returned to his home to find a dog lying on his parking spot. He got out of his car, kicked the dog, and parked his car in his space.

All was well after that, but only for a short while. The dog returned later with a pack of dogs to exert revenge. They chewed on the car's bodywork, the windshield wipers. Revenge was served, hard and sharp.

Next time you see an animal, this should teach you to be nice. It just might have some backup.

An inquest has heard that the Nigerian teenager, Temidayo Joseph, 16, may have died in a failed experiment to see how Robin Williams killed himself.

The gifted footballer was found slumped in a seated position on the floor by his mum Kate with his school tie as the noose around his neck.

The "lively and popular" young man was said to have had a conversation with his cousin wondering why anyone would take their own life.

“I don’t understand why somebody would do this to themself," Temi is reported to have said.

The Ockendon Academy, Temidayo's school, has been under the spotlight after the death just two weeks ago of fellow student Toni Connell, 15.

Toni Connell is said to have left a suicide note while Temi had left none.
