Being 50 ordinarily is a landmark celebration. For Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, there may never be another celebration like it again considering a major health challenge, which could have marred her chance of attaining her golden jubilee. In this interview with MERCY MICHAEL, the Fuji House star actress, who was recently feted to a 3-in-1 party which was graced by top Nollywood celebrities, opens up on her ordeal, the lessons and life at 50.

HOW do you feel being 50?

I feel young. I’ve always felt young.

Nollywood has decided to fete you at 50. Will you say this is the best birthday you’ve had?

I think this should be the best really. Considering the circumstance, I thank God; I made it to 50, yeah. This should be the best.

When exactly was your birthday?

1st of August.

What did you do that morning?

That morning, I was not in Nigeria. I was in England. I had breakfast in bed – that was after my morning prayer. My girlfriend surprised me by serving me breakfast in bed. And I was like wow! I’ve never had that before. It was nice turning 50, you know (laughs).

Who were those who called to congratulate you?

From midnight, I started receiving calls from people, friends, my family in Nigeria.

Did you ever think you would get to 50?

Well, there was a time I thought I wouldn’t get to 50, but with God all things are possible. And I never gave up and here I am.

You look very pretty, how have you been able to get back to shape?

My dear, it is God. I just thank God.

Why did you conceal your health challenge for a long time?

I don’t think you were here when the doctor was educating us on health issues. As he rightly said, it is nice for you to voice out your problem on time. But to me I felt it was something I could handle on my own. It wasn’t as if I deliberately kept quiet. I was handling it on my own, thinking it will be over soon until God said, ‘no, my daughter, I think I will handle it the best way for you.’ And here I am today.

At a time, there were so many insinuations regarding your state of health. What was the worst thing that was said about you?

My dear, so many silly things; I don’t even want to think about it. I just want to thank God that I’m alive. And to them all, I just want to say thank you because either way they’ve contributed to making me strong and I thank God I’m still alive.

What are some of the lessons you’ve drawn from the experience?

Some of the lessons I have drawn from the experience; I’ve learnt to be myself, believe in God and always help the needy because you don’t know tomorrow. Nobody knows the tomorrow. Today it is my turn. It could be your turn tomorrow. I remember when I went for ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ to play a charity game to raise money for Samanger because his health was failing him.

I thank God I won one million naira for him. But the point is I didn’t know it would be my turn someday. I thank God that when I was called upon for that show I didn’t turn it down. I’ve also learnt that you should never trust in anyone but God because those you believe in will be those that will let you down and it has also shown me the amount of people or the kind of people that will come to your aid when you need them.

This is Africa where people desert you when you have problems. What was your experience in this regard?

I would rather not talk about it. To me, I’m 50, I’m enjoying it to the glory of God and all that is behind me now. They are in the past.

How many more years would you like to spend on earth?

My dear, God should just keep adding it and adding it until He says, ‘my daughter, you’ve finished your work on earth, come home.’

You were spotted recently at a location. Are you hale, hearty and ready to work?

Spotted at a location? No, I’ve only gone to Fuji House. And you know in Fuji House, I play a key role there and they’ve been waiting for me all along. And they’ve run out of episodes, so I had to be there to play a little of my part, just to tell people I’m still alive and I will be back on track, that was why I went to see them before I went back to England.

So, are you fully ready for work now?

Yes, yes, yes but I still need to rest. If at all I have to work now it’s not going to be fully. I’ve not gone back to work fully, no!

I learnt you were on location of Yaws and Mine, that was why I asked that question…

Before I went back to England for my treatment I was there just to see them, because I was actually supposed to be with them on the second season which I told them I couldn’t do at that time as I wasn’t fit to work. So I just went to tell them ‘well done, I’m still with you. I will be back.’

What are things that you cannot do now by virtue of your age and the health challenge you just overcame?

There is nothing I cannot do because of age now, but by virtue of health for now, if you notice you will see that my walking is not really smooth; that I use working stick. That is the only challenge I have for now. I still walk at a slow pace for now, but when I’m back to my normal Ngozi Nwosu certainly there will be nothing stopping me.

What is one special gift that you have received on your birthday?

Well, I have received the grace of God; that is the first special gift. God has given me back my life. I really thank God. I call it the second coming of Ngozi Nwosu. Then the second gift I have received is a wonderful gift of breakfast in bed by my girl friend in England because I had never received that before.

What is your greatest achievement?

Life.

What is your greatest desire from God?

I pray that God should give me long life, not like Metusellah, because I don’t want to live the life that you will be blind, you will be crippled and you will become a nuisance to the society. I want a live long life but I want to be fit; even if I’m 80, 90, or 100. That’s the kind of life I want.

What has life taught you?

Life is a decision and life is by choice.

So many things have changed since the time you travelled and now. You’ve gotten back to shape. How have you been able to achieve that?

I thank God. It is not by might, not by power.

Some of your colleagues who weren’t lucky to get financial assistance passed on, but you were lucky; you had the goodwill and the money came on time. What do you think can be done to prevent these health issues?

That is why I’m happy that my president, Ibinabo Fiberisema, came. I’m glad they now have a health scheme for thespians. I will encourage them to please hook on to that because life is too short. The things we think might be nothing could turn out to be something. I know that from the time I took ill till this time there are so many people that have dropped dead while I went to hell and I’m still standing. That is why I say God has given me a second chance.

Who are your childhood friends?

So many, they are there. Some are gone while some are still hanging in there.

How about in the industry?

Industry? I do not have friends.

Any reason?

When you are rich they are your friends, but when you’re not they are not your friend. Most of them are a flash in the pan.

What’s your take on Nollywood at present?

For now, I can’t say because I haven’t been working for two years. All this problem started with pile, so for almost a year I couldn’t do anything. I was battling with the pile until finally I had an operation and just when I was being myself back, I did one or two jobs before the kidney thing started.

So really I cannot say the state, but from what I am seeing, I think Nollywood is higher yeah! But I want to quickly point out that our script writers are not doing enough work, because most of what I was watching while I was resting were based on one story copied from one English movie or the other, and before you say Jack Robinson you know where it is going to end and I don’t find that interesting.

When it comes to your health, what are the things you want to do differently?

I have learnt that there are so many things you don’t take and especially when one is aging, it is important that you get hooked to a doctor and seek advice because it’s only a doctor and a nutritionist that can actually educate you on what to do and how to take care of yourself properly.

There is the notion that kidney diseases most times have a lot to do with alcohol intake. What is your take on this?

I don’t think it has to do with alcohol. Let’s just pray that we should not be sick. There are so many people out there, even kids that have kidney problems, do kids take alcohol? So it doesn’t have to do with alcohol. Though it may have something to do with it, it doesn’t necessarily have to do with it. Like I said, let’s just pray not to be sick.

What else would you wish for in life?

I wish for the best things of life. In fact, I just wish somebody will come and park the latest car in my house now because this one that we are talking is talk, talk. Somebody should come and park the best car in my house and build a house for me. I don’t want to be like the Nigerian flag designer who almost died before they recognised him. Yes, o! When they are talking about Nollywood, I thank God I’m still alive. I am part of those who made it what it is today.

Your health challenge as it was then made you trend in the media like never before, even till now you are still trending. Would you say it’s a blessing in disguise?

Yes, a big one. It’s a blessing, my dear. To those who felt this was the end of Ngozi Nwosu, I just want to tell them: this is the beginning of Ngozi Nwosu.

Treatment of breast cancer in Alternative Medicine (3)

Being the third part in the serialisation of the text of a presentation by FEMI KUSA at the maiden seminar of the College of Integrative Medicineheld at the Water Parks, Toyin Street, Lagos, on August 1 and 2, 2013.

The college was founded to train members of the National Integrative Medicine Practitioners Association (NIMPA). In the first part published on August 8, two promising case studies provided the grounds for hope that herbs and nutritional supplements, used alone or as an adjunct in orthodox cancer therapies, can bring about a cancer cure. In one of these cases, stage iv colon cancer which had spread to the liver, lung and kidney shrank by 25 per cent within two months of the introduction of alternative medicine therapies to conventional therapy. In the second case, breast cancer shrank significantly. Last Thursday, August 15, featured the loss of oxygen in the body as a possible cause of cancer, some common causes of deoxygenating and some ways and means of oxygenating the blood, including the use of oxygen tablets or capsules. This week, the column explores gene and cell damage as potential cause of cancer.

Cell damage during cell division

There are about 100 trillion cells in the average adult human body. All of them except those of the brain and perhapsthe nerves are constantly dividing to reproduce themselves before they die off. One hundred trillion cells is written as 100,000,000,000,000.Each cell is probably replaced hundreds of thousands of times in one’s lifetime. In one single day, as many as 40 billion (40,000,000,000) cells may be replaced. In the course of these replacements, mistakes may occur in the splitting of the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid), which is the blueprint or code of each cell to be reproduced. Recently, the media reported the birth of a baby without the brain in the skull. This means the skull is hollow.Obviously, the gene for the brain was missing in the baby printers will easily understand what is happening. Printers print from plates fastened to a press by pressing paper over them. If a printer has an order for 200,000 copies, the plate may wear after 100,000 copies. Any printing done after this number may not be clear or it may blur. So, the plate has to be replaced. In respect of cell reproduction in the body, sometimes it is a gene that is missing. The cells produced in such error are not normal cells, and, therefore, lose communication links with the body and do not get information or instruction from the brain about the rate at which they should divide, hence the abnormal rate of division. If we grant to Mother Nature, as agent of the Creator of all things the honour of perfection, we would recognise that the possibility of this aberration, through the foibles of souls maturing in these bodies, would have been foreseen, and antidote for it would have been provided for in the Creation Plan. This abnormality arose in the first place out of dietary and other misconducts. If we dig deep down into any event which suggests imperfection in the work of Mother Nature, we would discover that man is the architectof it.In the far sighted nature of Mother.Nature, every cell is equipped with a gene called the P.53Gene which kills off a cell which has stepped out of tune with the rhythm of the body. This gene, located on the DNA, is called the “suicide gene.” Why these genes fail to pull the trigger on the cancer cell? Another relevant question in cancer therapy is: why do the 30 billion or so immune cells, including the NATURAL KILLER (NK) cells not catch and destroy thesedeadly cells? If they failed, why did the liver, as the chief detoxifying or purifying organ in the body, let them pass?

Some studies have associated these failures to nthe loss of energy within the cells. Many factors such as Vitamins, co-factors,minerals and enzymes are inseparable from energy production in the cell. But Co-enzyme Q10 (CoQ10) would appear somewhat more significant, going by some studies, and I would like to emphasise it in this presentation.

Dr. Folkers, one of the most outstanding CoQ10 researchers for decades, ran the first CoQ10 research on the value of this compound in breast cancer management, and some doctors carried out the experiment with 32 women in a Copenhagen Clinic. The woman had advanced, high risk breast cancer which had spread to the lymph mode. They had gone through chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery to no avail. Researcher Dr. Foikers and his two medical doctor colleagues placed the women on a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and CoQ10 to see if these would help. The CoQ10 dosage was 90mg daily. And, sure enough, six of the 32 women survived beyond two years, although, by convention, the condition of their cancer dictated that they die before then. Their tumors had shrunken significantly.

In 1993, one of these women unilaterally increased her CoQ10 dosage from 90mg to 390mg a day. By the following month, the cancer was completely gone. Another woman who followed her footsteps by increasing her own CoQ10 dosage to 300mg daily also witnessed complete remission of the cancer. Their doctors reported these surprising developments in the following statement: “The tumor was no longer palpable and in the following month, a mammogram examination diagnosed disappearance of Her tumor. After that, another woman in the group also increased her dosage, this time to 300mg. her tumor soon disappeared. A clinical examination revealed no presence of the prior residual tumor nor of distant metastases,

This study has been reported to be significant in at least two respects. First, the quantum of chemotherapy, toxic to cells and depressant to the immune system, may have constituted an overwhlming harmer to CoQ10 energising the dormant suicide genes of the cancer cells to destroy those cells. It may, also have deprived the liver of energy to detoxify the blood and, by extension, the cells. The cells, of course, include the immune cells, expecially the NK cells.

Secondly, an increased CoQ10 dosage reveals the capacity of this compound to energise the system back to health. In other words, the cells did not have enough CoQ10 in their pre-cancerous state. Even when CoQ10 was given at going daily, the usage may have been eaten up by chemo or radiation. For CoQ10 is an antioxidant and may have been donating itself to free radicals of the chemo and radiation.

Further, CoQ10 research in this area has shown that the compound stimulatesimmunoglobin production and increases the CD4 to CD8 ratio in humans. These effects are immune-boosting and suggest the relationship between cellular energy and protection against tumour growth and cancer development. More research has shown as well linkages between low plasma levels of CoQ10 and the onset or progression of breast cancer.

Coq10 is used in all therapies, not just for cancer. Originally, it was given to people with heart problems. The heart is one of the richest sources of CoQ10, understandably because it is a hardworking organ which requires lots of energy to move blood round the body. It has helped many causes of palpitation of heart muscles, especially when taken with Hawthorn berries and Magnesium, and congestive heart failure. People with low ejection fraction also benefit from CoQ 10 therapy. Ejection fraction is the quantum of blood which one chamber of the heart pumps into another. Doctors worry if less then 50 per cent is pushed out. Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart is enlarged and weak, pushes blood to the lungs for oxygenation but is too weak to pump it out. In elderly people, the lungs may becomes so congested with blood that they begin to cough as an attempt by the lungs to rid themselves of this burden. Sometimes the coughing may persist for years and fail to respond to cough medicine and antibiotics which doctors give to clear infection which follows congestion. By improving the hearts energy with the use of CoQ10, congestive heart failure is often well resolved.

Ubiquinone or Ubiquinol

Two forms of CoQ10 are available, namely ubiqui (noneandubiqui(nol). Ubiquinol is the more effective and is more expensive. Some smart producers sell ubiquinone as ubiquinol to sweep the market at cheaper prices. It is always important in the CoQ10 market to buy only trusted brands.

Free radical damage

Free radicals are atoms or molecules without paired electrons in the outermost shell of their electrons. They are unstable, highly reactive and destructive. They steal electrons from the cells to stabilise themselves, thereby damaging these cells. In this process, holes are literally drilled into the cell membranes. This makes the cell to leak, like a car tyre tube punctured by a nail. Hundreds of thousands of free radical hits may occur on a cell in one day. The cell spends a great deal of time and energy sealing the leaks and healing its injury, with hardly any energy left for other work to safeguard its existence. In the end, it ages prematurely, may become mutated and carcerous or dies. Imagine a car tyre tube punctured many times over with its leaks sealed many times over. Soon, it becomes useless, unsafe to drive on. We cannot escape from free radical threat. We only need protection against it. Free radicals are produced by the body as waste products of its metabolism. From the outside, they come into the body with food, air and water. The body produces them when the immune system fights diseases.Diseases germs launch them against immune cells. Many of our natural foods, fruits and herbs have antioxidant and properties and protect us against free radicals. A new body of research, about which I may speak later, an antidotes to free radicals, suggests we also get free radicals from the atmosphere. Antioxidants, as negative charges, are said to come from the earth. Thus, the earth exhibits a natural balance between free radicals and antioxidants If we do not “earth”the free radical as positive charges we are receiving from the atmosphere, as we earth them with lightening or thunder catcher protection for houses, we will have lots of free radicals sooner than later. Earthling these charges naturally is achieved by walking barefoot on dew covered grass especially, says this new body of research. In the wisdom of Mother Nature Free Radicals are destroyed by antioxidants. The body produces three primary antioxidants, namely:

• Glutathione

• Superoxide Dismutage (SOD),and

• Catalase

These enzymes complexes are made from certain substances which may sometimes or often run short in the body biochemistry and cause a deficiency of these basic antioxidants. These foundation materials include zinc, selenium and manganese. In addition, antioxidants are available also in the form of Vitamins A,C and E. As the entire body has a general antioxidant defence system, specific organs have antioxidants specific to them even when these antioxidants have wider applications. The fat soluble vitamins A and E, for example, are found largely in fatty organs of the body such as the breast, the eyes and the brain. Alpha Lipoic Acid, another popular antioxidant, in fat and water soluble and,so,(NAC) operates in both media.

N- Acetyl Cystane, yet another antioxidant, is used alongside another antioxidant because of its tendency to generate free radicals. Antioxidants do not destroy free radicals directly. They interface between free radicals and the cells, donating themselves. In other words, free radicals steal electrons from antioxidants and, so have no need to steal from the cells. The scenario is like a war front where soldiers form a human shield around their general against enemy fire. A reverse graphic situation may look like an unprotected house invaded every day by armed robbers.

Cancer is defeatable

On August 31, CANCER DEFEATED, foundedin 2006, will start a convention in mexico to show doctors and other interested people, many cancer survivors who usedAlternative Medicines, the doctors and clinics who treated them, as well as natural foods and herbs which these cancer survivors employed in their fight for survival.

Many AMERICAN AND European doctors who have been achieving positive results with Alternative Medicine protocols that Mainstream medicine oppose in their countries find their ways to a more tolerant Mexico.

Some Nigerian readers of this column are attending the convention. An interesting part of the convention is a tour of the Alternative Medicine- using orthodox medicine clinics in Mexico where what are termedcancer survival miracles have taken place.

Dr. Oz, a leading figure in nutritional medicine, and Dr. William W. Li, M.D., president and medical director of the ANGIOGENESIS FOUNDATION,will very likely speak on ANGIOGENESIS and ANTIANGIOGENES in the battle against cancer, which many doctors in Nigeria do not give sufficient attention.Angiogenesis is the process by which blood vessels feed the cells. Cancer cells hijack angiogenesis to feed themselves. Some anti-cancer food supplements, such as Shark cartilage, prevent cancer cells from hijacking angiogenesis in a counter process called antiangiogenesis. They say, from their studies that the right kinds of foods play a great role in antiangiogenesis. The block cancer cells from feeding on the blood, surround them, shrunk them and cause their death. I will address this convention in a later column.

Treatment of breast cancer in Alternative Medicine (2)

0 0
Read Time:12 Minute, 51 Second

Being the second part in the serialisation of the text of a presentation by FEMI KUSA at the maiden seminar of the College of Integrative Medicine, held at the Water Parks, Toyin Street, Lagos, on August 1 and 2, this year. The college was founded to train members of the National Integrative Medicine Practitioners Association (NIMPA). In the first part published last Thursday, two promising case studies provided the grounds for hope that herbs and nutritional supplements, used alone or as an adjunct in orthodox cancer therapies, can bring about a cancer cure. In one of these cases, stage iv colon cancer which had spread to the liver, lung and kidney shrank by 25 per cent within two months of the introduction of alternative medicine therapies to conventional therapy. In the second case, breast cancer shrank significantly.

Some popular suggestions on why cancer strikes

The list is too long for all of them to be mentioned in an exercise such as this. Some of the common or popular ones are:

• Deoxygenation of blood lymph and tissue,

• Cell damage during cell division,

• Energy or voltage loss within the cells,

• Free radical damage of cells,

• Antioxidant deficiency,

• Nutritional deficiencies,

• Abnormally high microbial population,

• Sub-optimally functioning or weak liver,

• Immune depletion,

• Pathological hatred,

• Pharmaceutical food supplements,

• Heavy metal toxicity and poisoning,

• Chemical and pesticide poisoning,

• Estrogenation,

• Potassium deficiency and elevation of sodium in the blood,

• Hypothyroidism or low thyroid function,

• Systemic Enzymes deficiency,

• Excessive Consumption of animal protein,

• Consumption of white sugar,

•Deficiency of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)

Deoxygenation

We need oxygen to live. Old high school education teaches that the air is composed of about 21 per cent of oxygen and 79 per cent other gases. Yet, a recent study of air trapped in antartic ice ages ago suggests oxygen air content as high as 38 per cent at that time. Could the air oxygen content be going down? Since oxygen is the most important element for human survival, could a deficiency be related to the upsurge of degenerative diseases, including breast cancer, the green plants, through photosynthesis, store oxygen for human consumption … in green leafy vegetable and herbs, for example. But many people in this part of the world do not consume adequate amounts of vegetables every day. When they do at all, the vegetables may have lost vital nutrients through overcooking or long storage or the use of fertiliser in growing them. Besides, the soil on which they grew may have been overcultivated and malnourished. Rain water in clean cities is oxygen – rich. But municipal water supply from which many people derive their drinking water has been chlorinated to kill germs and, thus, is deoxygenated. In 1969, the Guinness Book of Records found the people of OKINAWA in Japan to be the longest living people on earth. They were healthy and agile in body and spirit. Their longevity and health secret turned out to be their water. It was neither chlorinated nor flouridised. It was alkaline. Most of our bottled water in Nigeria is acidic on the pH scale. Sachet or so-called “pure water” is terribly acidic. The cells are weakened and damaged by acidiosis. In Okinawa, the drinking water passes through coral reefs which alkalize it. Alkaline water washes acids out of the body. Soon, the world knew of CORAL CALCIUM from Okinawa which was said, like coral, alkalized water to help fight cancer, even cure it. Today, alkaline water pots and other means of alkalizing drinking water sell well in Nigeria. So, does coral calcium. The lungs provide the body with oxygen through breathing. But many people do not exercise themselves physically well enough, to get enough oxygen into their systems by maximally using their lungs. As a matter of fact, it has been scientifically determined that many people use less than 70 per cent capacity of their lungs every day. The picture of oxygen supply to the body appears gloomier under industrialisation and urbanisation.

Lagos and other Nigerian cities are filled with smoking vehicles, electricity generator fumes, and smoke from firewood, refuse and bush burning, among other environmental oxygen depletors. If you walk on some streets in Lagos, during municipal electricity failure, you may almost choke from the smoke of generators. Traffic jams pump smoke into our lungs. I got introduced to superior oxygen capsules, as VITALAIRE was then called, when my office at the then THE COMET newspaper was about an arm’s stretch from the expressway. My table got filled with SOOT every morning. A test revealed oxygen depletion in the brain. A worldwide study of major cities suggests oxygen concentrations in and around them at about 30 per cent below normal levels. If we add to these environmental assaults the disappearance of the green belt and the replacement of vegetation by concrete and steel, we observe a critical disturbance of a Creation Plan anchored on the Law of Balance. This law upholds the smallest and the biggest entities in Creation, from the atoms in our bodies and the pages of these newspapers and the solar systems to the gigantic Universe. By this law, plant removes carbon dioxide, destructive of human life, from the atmosphere during the day and gives us life-preserving oxygen in return, and in such quantum as is sufficient for us at night when they like us, consume oxygen and give off carbon dioxide. When concrete and metal replace green vegetation, the air we breathe to live healthily is no longer fully supportive of life. One marker of inadequate level of oxygenation besides susceptibility to constant infections is tiredness. Another is pain. Yet another could be headache or yawning all the time. Overcrowding in buses and bedrooms worsens matters. It may be good to keep an indoor green plant indoor during the day and take it out at sunset when it uses oxygen, like us, and releases carbon dioxide which we do not need. The implication of deoxygenation of the air is that less oxygen gets into the body. Without enough oxygen, metabolism is sluggish, waste accumulates, the internal environment becomes toxic, micro-organisms, especially Candida and other yeast cells, proliferate, since they enjoy anaerobic environment, and compound the toxin level with their own wastes. The cells battle to survive in this environment. Some adapt to the oxygen – deficient environment by becoming anaerobic (not dependent on oxygen), like the microforms proliferating in it. Their aerobic respiration produce energy and lactic acid, whereas aerobic respiration produces heat, energy, water and carbon dioxide, which is excreted through exhalation. This anaerobic process goes on for many years before counter strikes in the cells which have become too weak to protect themselves against acid and other poisoning germs. As germs love weak, toxic cells, this may account for why candida, bacteria, viruses and mold have been found in the carcerous breast tissue. Italian Dr. Tullio Simoncini, who injects sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) into breast cancer to make the toxin-filled cells alkaline and inhospitable for these germs, has documented some of his experiences in a book titled: CANCER IS A FUNGUS.

More information about this work, courtesy Bill Henderson, in his book, CANCER FREE, can be obtained from www.curenaturalicancro.com

Some Nigerian doctors have followed Dr. Solocini’s work. But he has not disclosed to any of them who have linked up with him exactly how he delivers this stuff into the cancerous breast. When I discussed with one of them the dressing of breast cancer sores, especially the awfully smelling ones, saying I often suggest the spraying of Forever Living Products (FLP) Aloe First after cleaning, he said he uses Baking Soda Powder to dress the sores after cleaning them.

Oxygenation

If deoxygenation causes cancer, how can we oxygenate to prevent it and to reverse it? An Alternative Medicine practitioner treating breast cancer, or any cancer for that matter, may wish to imagine that cancerous cells are filled with candida, a fungus, and other yeast, and then decide on oxygenation therapies to kill them off and free the cells of these unfriendly inhabitants which are driving them wild and making them to behave abnormally. In Europe, some practitioners put their patients in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, in what is known as the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), to make them breathe pure oxygen in a sealed chamber. I do not know if HBOT is available in Nigeria. But we have options. One of them is OxyLife’s 35 per cent Food grade Hydrogen Peroxide which is valuable in the treatment of many diseases, including cancer. I use it prophylacticaly once in a while. Hydrogen peroxide Therapy is controversial. The mainstream medical profession does not want to hear of it. Its position is understandable. For hydrogen peroxide, if misused, can become a double edged sword. One blade kills diseases as fire destroys dry bush. The other blade can damage the cells through oxidative hydroxyl impact. But the hydrogen peroxide used for Therapy is not the common one used as mouth wash. It is the 35 per cent home grade hydrogen peroxide. Madison Cabanaugh exhumed hydrogen peroxide from the dustbin of orthodox medicine and handed it, like a jewel, to alternative Medicine with his book titled: ONE MINUTE CURE FOR ALL DISEASES. In this book, he shows that if the human cell is about 75 per cent water, and if this water is two atoms of hydrogen and oxygen, oxygen must account for not less than 33 per cent of this water content. Oxygen from other sources must make oxygen account for about 50 per cent of the cell. Oxygen depletion, therefore, must cause health problems.

Although hydrogen peroxide therapy is widely criticised in the orthodox medical profession Dr. Lance Moriaty, medical director of a clinic in Nairobi, Kenya, reports that one in eight of his HIV/AIDS patients on hydrogen peroxide therapy become healed. In a study, out of 52 HIV/AIDS patients given hydrogen peroxide, 30 received immediate remission while 22 reported increased energy and well being. Says Dr. Moriaty: “People come back to life … it blows my mind”. There is also, a food supplement named SUPERIOR OXYGEN. It comes encapsulated, and has just been repacked and re-named VITALAIRE. What a more appropriate and less scary named! The base is potassium permanganate, to which are complexed many oxygen-yielding food grade substances. Some of these compounds include magnesium peroxide, astragalus, hypoxis, vitamin D3, calcium ascorbate, calcium phosphate, B vitamins, citrus bioflavonoids etc. It is a portable oxygen or a home oxygen therapy designed to address, among other issues, shortness of breadth, weakness, sleep apnea, daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, all of which signify insufficiency of oxygen in the body. An oxygen therapy featured one way or the other in both cases cited above. Green plants, as stated, earlier are also minute sources of oxygen. On the market today are single plant products such as Chlorella, Spirulina, Parseley, Barley grass, Wheat Grass, and alfalfa. Among many others. There is as well the conglome merits greens products in which about 40 green plants are ground to powder and taken with meals or as tea or with fruit or vegetable juice. They offer the advantage of providing the body with Chlorophyll which detoxifies the system. And recharges the blood. Chlorophyll and heamoglobin have the same basic structure … Hydrogen, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen. They differ only in their central atoms. In chlorophyll, the central atom in magnesium. In heamoglobin, it is iron. When we take a green drink; the body replaces the magnesium with iron to recharge the blood. And since the healthy and radiant blood is indispensable for good health, it is important in breast cancer therapy. Thus, liquid chlorophyll features prominently in the two cases mentioned above.

 Caution with Oxygen

Oxygen is a double-edged sword. Just as too little of it can compromise health, too much of it is bad and can cause oxidative stress and damage. For singlet oxygen atoms can attach to metals in the body such as iron, copper and manganese and oxidize them and causing them to rust. This is preventable if an oxygen therapy includes antioxidant food supplements such as vitamins A, C and E, Grape Seed Extract, alpha lipoic acid, Co Enzyme Q10,Selenium, Zinc, Gluthathione and the likes of them. They are all meant to be present in the diet. A dietary lifestyle change in breast cancer therapy should focus on the restoration of healthy raw diet which produces them abundantly.

A raw diet in breast cancer therapy is a serious business. A time table is involved. If the patient’s energy can support it, Stanley Burough’s LEMONADE DIET is suggested. Thus is not the typical Nigerian carbonhydrate filled diet. Cancer cells love sugar, and they must be denied sugar, unless sugar is going to be used to lure them to their graves. There are some doctors who do this. They give the patient sugar in the cancer cells open up to “drink” the sugar. But this sugar is a “Trojan Horse” food. As they open up happily, the doctor administers drugs which kill these cells. Before they can close their receptors for sugar intake, they have taken in the drugs with the sugar. A raw diet, on the other hand, is a raw diet. In the Lemonade Diet, for example, LIME or LEMON at one tablespoonful is added to capsule of CAYENNE and one tablespoonful of MAPLE SYRUP. The lime or lemon is a reducing agent. The cayenne drives blood circulation and drives the lime or lemon into the cell. The Maple Syrup provides energy. The patient adds one glass of water to this mixture which he drinks three or four times a day for anything from seven days to 28 days, depending on his energy and capacity to fast. Many people worry at first that they will miss food. But they soon learn it is beautiful to give up cooked food, if only for a while. I later modified this diet to fit the needs of some people who adopted it. This reducing diet literally melts all the toxins crystals in the body. When toxins build up, the body turns them into crystals and plugs them into apertures or pores in organs through which fluids flow. If these pores get blocked thereby, organs get stiff. Imagine a stiff joint and arthritis. When the crystals meet, they release toxins into the blood. The liver, kidneys and skin and the bowels are to eliminate them. But, in a cancer situation, these organs are already weakened; perhaps from the toxins menacing the system, antioxidants can be added to the therapy to neutralise them. The time table I often suggest runs on the hour. A herbal drink such as vegetable juice or Lemonade Diet may be taken at 7a.m followed by Water at 8am and another juice drink at 9am and water at 10am. In the London case, the patient shifted from wheatgrass juice, stinging Nettle, Root Juice, Calamus Root juice, Parseley Root Juice, Carrot Root Juice and water by the hour. It is during the water sessions that water soluble vitamins and other food supplements are taken.

Nigeria 2015: It is left to Jonathan to accept my advice not to contest —Nwabueze

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

THE leader of The Patriots, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, yesterday said it is left to President Goodluck Jonathan to accept his advice not to contest 2015 poll or not. He also denied that the proposed National Political Summit slated for next week in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State is meant to stop Jonathan from contesting in 2015. Nwabueze, who made the clarifications in a statement last night, said his advice to Jonathan to stay off 2015 poll was personal and not the position of The Patriots.

The statement said: “As I said in my interview with the press yesterday, after The Patriots meeting with President Jonathan, the President is perfectly eligible to seek re-election in 2015 and he is free to do so. It is a matter in his absolute discretion to decide whether to run or not to run in 2015. “My position in this matter is totally irrelevant.

Therefore, my personal advice to him not to run is only one factor that he should take into account in deciding for himself whether to run or not to run. “My advice is purely a personal one and not that of either The Patriots or Project Nigeria (organizers of the National Summit) and has nothing to do with the Uyo summit as the question of election is not also a matter listed on the agenda of the summit.” He said the Uyo summit was not designed to stop Jonathan’s second term ambition.

The statement added: “My attention has been drawn to the insinuation that the purpose of the National Political Summit holding next week in Uyo is to take a decision to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from seeking re-election in 2015. “This is very far from the truth. The purpose of the Uyo summit is to agree on a roadmap to stability, progress and unity of Nigeria . The entire aim of the summit is to build national consensus on how to save Nigeria .”

Nigeria needs no sovereign national conference —NBA

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 2 Second

THE Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) yesterday said Nigeria does not need to convene a sovereign national conference to address its problems. NBA President Okechukwu Wali (SAN), at a press conference, said the country “does not need another gathering in Abuja.” He said rather than such a national conference, attention should be paid to amending the Constitution on a piecemeal basis, according to the needs of Nigerians. “Any modification to the Constitution can be done through the National Assembly.

We recommend piecemeal amendment of the Constitution. We don’t think we need to create another gathering. “We do not call for a sovereign national conference because are we going to get people elected to do that? We don’t think it’s necessary,” Wali said. In a communiqué read by Wali at the end of its Annual General Conference in Calabar, Cross River State, NBA, however, said the Constitution, as it currently operates, does not truly reflect the people’s yearnings and aspirations. It added that ordinary amendments to its provisions may not necessarily cure the fundamental flaws in it. “There is, therefore, a dire need for a people-oriented Constitution which will be subjected to a national referendum and will be self-enforcing,” NBA said.

The association called for the enactment of a law to regulate the granting of amnesty to repentant criminals. It said such important government policy should not be executed at the discretion of the President or the executive alone. “It is high time to legislate and enact laws on amnesty in Nigeria with a view to regulating its application,” NBA said. The NBA condemned the deplorable security situation in the country and “challenged” the Federal Government to review the strategy for fighting the menace of kidnapping and other forms of criminality. “The Bar condemns the seeming involvement of security officers in the payment of ransom for kidnapping and views this as aiding and abetting kidnapping,” NBA said, adding that payment of ransom by even the government can only serve as motivation and encouragement to kidnappers.

This was as NBA urged security agencies to rescue its member, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), who was kidnapped last week Friday, sympathising with the police authorities and families of four policemen said to have been killed during Ozekhome’s kidnap. The Bar identified corruption and unemployment as the factors leading to the degenerating security situation and urged the government at all levels to design workable policies to tackle the problem. NBA said to prevent the judiciary’s independence from being eroded, it should be well-funded, modern facilities should be provided in courts and corrupt judges must be sanctioned by the National Judicial Council.

The association criticised the government’s economic policies, saying past reforms exacerbated the citizens’ economic condition. “The Federal Government should, as a deliberate and practicable policy, ensure that all economic reforms should be people-focused and oriented. “In its implementation of economic and social reforms, institutions should be structured and enhanced in order to achieve overall good for the people. “Governance should not be appraised in terms of the infrastructural development that is visible, but should be defined in terms of real human development indices. “Governance should focus on technical problems of political legitimacy, administrative and legal capacity and the improvement of public sector management, the legal framework for development, accountability through better auditing, decentralisation, the policing of corruption, civil service reform, and improved information on policy issues for both decision-makers and the public,” NBA said

Ondo State: Supreme Court verdict: Akeredolu insists Ondo guber poll was flawed

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 36 Second

The defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), yesterday congratulated Governor Olusegun Mimiko on the Supreme Court judgment which upheld his victory in the election held on October 20 last year.

In a statement issued by him, he said he was still convinced that the election that brought in Mimiko for second term was marred with irregularities.

The statement reads: “The Supreme Court yesterday delivered its judgment dismissing my appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal which upheld the earlier judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal.

“The judgment of the Supreme Court has helped a great deal in reaffirming my belief in what Clinton Rossiter said thus: ‘The people with their overt or silent resistance, not the court…will set the only practical limit to arrogance of abuse.’

“Impelled by an undying belief in the democratic process, we were determined to prosecute this matter to its logical conclusion. We were, and are still, convinced without doubt that a heavily tainted process cannot produce a credible choice, the judgment of the Supreme Court notwithstanding. We stand by the prophetic words of Onnoghen JSC thus: ‘There are certain non-compliances that go to the root of an election in that they are absolute in the sense that once established, the purported election is invalid and as such there would be no result to be substantially affected by the non-compliance. For instance, where an election is conducted with an invalid voters’ register, can there be a result of an election to be substantially affected by the non-compliance? Obviously none as the purported election is null and void ab initio.

“We believe that our intervention has enriched our jurisprudence in certain respects. We leave lawyers, judges, eminent scholars and members of the reading public to read the judgment of the Supreme Court with a view to sustaining the discourse.

“We never for once harbour any illusion on the arduous and tortuous itinerary to our democratic destination. We firmly believe in the justness of our cause and we tender no apologies to anyone who feels that we must be complacent and compliant, faced with the harsh realities on the socio-political landscape.

“Once again, I thank all our supporters in Ondo State, especially those who have had to bear the brunt of the oppressive and callous charges of a vindictive and desperate government.

“I thank members of the press for the usual promptitude with which any news concerning us is treated. We remain partners in the struggle for the emancipation of the downtrodden.

“As Walter Mondale said, in every defeat can be found the seeds of victory; it is the nature of politics and is proven by history. I ran for office because I’m concerned about Ondo State. This judgment puts paid, albeit for now, to my hopes to lead the state in a different direction.

I and my wife, (Betty) congratulate the Governor, Dr Rahaman Mimiko and earnestly pray for him and for our state.”

Taraba Crisis: Senators, Reps, Speakers back Assembly

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 18 Second

The National Assembly caucus of Taraba State and the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria (CSSLN) are in support of the Taraba State House of Assembly on its stand that Alhaji Garba Umar remains acting governor.

They affirmed that while Mr.Danbaba Suntai is the undisputed governor, the State Assembly was constitutionally right to mandate Alhaji Umar to continue in office until Mr.Suntai is medically fit to resume.

They warned external influences against exploiting the situation to the detriment of the people of the state.

Addressing reporters at the House of Representatives yesterday, Senator Abubakar Tutare said the unfolding political melodrama in the state is unfortunate, shameful and uncalled for.

Tutare was flanked by the House of Representatives Majority Whip, Ishaka Bawa, Ibrahim El Sudi and Aminu Malle, while Jerry Manwe, Albert Sam-Tsokwa and two Senators missed the briefing.

The state has nine members in the National Aseembly made up of three Senators and six Representatives.

Five members signed the statement of the position of the caucus.

According to Tutare, being leaders that ought to have unbiased opinions, mature judgments and enlightened conscience, the state must be seen to be bigger and greater than one single individual or group of individuals.

He said rather than be concerned about bringing development to the state, “we are busy politicking with the health of our amiable Governor His Excellency, Danbaba Suntai. Rather than uniting our people who are peace-loving, dynamic and enterprising, we are busy dividing them and creating unnecessary tension for selfish reasons.

“Rather than praying for Governor Danbaba’s speedy recovery, we are busy scheming, outsmarting and outwitting each other for selfish aggrandizement or the unknown 2015.

“As concerned Tarabans in the National Assembly, we sat and deliberated over the negative media hype pervading the already charged political atmosphere in the country and hereby plead with the various political gladiators within and outside Taraba to allow peace to prevail in the state.

“Our position is that His Excellency Danbaba Danfulani Suntai is and remains the undisputed Executive Governor of Taraba State.

“Alhaji Garba Umar should continue serving as Acting Governor as constitutionally enshrined until Governor Danbaba is convincingly fit to steer the affairs of the state.

“Without prejudice to the legality or otherwise of the action of the members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, we hereby commend the bold, gallant, resolute and patriotic steps taken by the Taraba State House of Assembly under the leadership of the courageous Speaker, Haruna Tsokwa”.

Besides, the federal lawmakers noted that the health and welfare of Suntai ought be of utmost importance to those who love the ailing governor, including the political gladiators, individuals and groups.

They urged the Taraba State Government to continue to take responsibility of his health expenses and all other personal responsibilities as they may arise.

While pleading with elder statesmen and highly placed persons from the state to, as a matter of urgency, converge to proffer solutions to the political impasse, the lawmakers advised external forces, unless for the purposes of bringing peace to the state, to desist from involving themselves in the affairs of the state.

Similarly, the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria (CSSLN) said the decision of the Taraba State House of Assembly to ascertain the health status of Governor Suntai is in order and constitutional.

The conference, however, urged the state assembly to stand firm on its decision.

Chairman of the conference and Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Inuwa Garba, who spoke in Abuja yesterday also warned against external influences that might want to destabilise the state through the unfolding situation.

He asked members of the state assembly to “stay firm in doing what is constitutionally right in the prevailing circumstance,” and all stakeholders to “resist any undue internal and external interference capable of creating religious, ethnic and political discord.”
