Nigeria’s First Lady Patience Jonathan Died For 7 Days

Read Time:3 Minute, 3 Second

Patience Jonathan herself made the confession today in Abuja that she actually died for more than a week during critical surgical operation in Germany.

According to our news correspondence, the First Lady of Nigeria actually died physically for more than seven days.

Mrs. Jonathan, who spoke at a special thanksgiving service at the Aso Rock Chapel where the first family worships, said she underwent multiple surgical operations and at some point her doctors lost hope after she “passed out for more than a week.”

“It was not an easy experience for me,” Mrs. Jonathan told the congregation which included senior government officials. “I actually died. I passed out for more than a week. My intestine and tummy were opened.”

“I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost. It was God himself in His infinite mercy that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven days,” she narrated.

Mrs. Jonathan’s remarks at the church service, was the first time the presidency would admit the First Lady was seriously sick as widely speculated in 2012.

Mrs. Jonathan was on admission at the Horst Schmidt Klinik in Germany for an undisclosed ailment although multiple reports suggested she was treated for lungs and abdominal problems.

While the news circulated, the presidency ensured an anxious public remained in the dark about her condition, repeatedly insisting Mrs. Jonathan traveled for a “deserved rest”.

The thanksgiving service was delayed for two months, after the initial schedule was moved due to the helicopter crash deaths of former governor of Kaduna state, Patrick Yakowa, and the former National Security Adviser, Owoeye Azazi.

President Goodluck Jonathan, ministers and top government functionaries attended the event on Sunday.

During a stirring session, the First Lady narrated how she went through “hell” while in hospital and said she has dedicated her life to serving the needy.

“It is the Lord’s doing that I returned alive,” she said. “When God says yes, nobody can say no. People are always afraid of operation (surgery). But in my own case, while my travail lasted, I was begging for it after the third operation because I was going to the theatre every day. It was God who saw me through. I did eight or nine operations within one month.”

While she lay dying in Germany, friends and associates who hoped she will not be making it back to Nigeria with life, scrambled for her properties, selling those they could,” Mrs. Jonathan said.

She accused some of those she trusted of leaking information to the public that she had passed on.

“I know that some people somehow leaked the information that I was dead. They are people that I trust and rely on. To them, I was dead and I would never return to the country alive,” she said. “Some of them even sold my things off. “I won’t say everything here.”

She said she believed she had not completed her assignment on earth, which was why God spared her.

“It was not an easy one. The day I came back, I said God I have nothing to say, I offer myself to you. I will be doing things that will touch the lives of the less privilege. God gave me a second chance because I reached there. He knew I had not completed the assignments He gave me that was why I was sent back,” the First Lady said.

Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has sealed 15 companies in the last one month for failure to remit N47.4 million personal income taxes of workers. Mrs Folasade Coker-Afolayan, the Head of its Distrain Unit, made the disclosure  in Lagos.

She said that the companies were sealed between Jan. 9 and Feb. 6. According to her, five of the defaulting firms were shut in January over tax liabilities of N25.2 million. She said the other 10 companies were sealed in February over tax debt of N22.2 million.

“The enforcement happened between Jan. 9 and Feb.6,” she said. Coker-Afolayan said that these taxes were for a period of one year to six years. She reiterated that tax payment was a civic responsibility of everyone, explaining that the proceeds were being used by the government to provide infrastructure. Tax is a major source of government revenue. It enables it to provide infrastructure and improve the citizens’ standard of living,” she said.

Coker-Afolayan said that the LIRS would continue to sanction tax defaulters. She advised companies to remit taxes promptly to avoid embarrassment and stressed that it was a criminal offence to break government’s seals on sealed companies.

NIGERIA: 10,000 surveillance cameras for roads

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

To stem the violation of road traffic  regulations by motorists and other criminal activities in the country, the Federal Government has concluded plans to collaborate with a safety organization to install surveillance cameras in all the major highways across the country.

To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, would be signed this week between the government and the firm, Risk and Accident Prevention Society of Nigeria, RAPSON. The move will bring about the installation of 10,000 units of smart cameras and 13,000 sets of memory censors on the nation’s highways.

Disclosing this to newsmen in Abuja, Chairman of RAPSON, Mr. Ben Koko Odohofre, said the organization was set to employ 300,000 personnel to work on the project.

The RAPSON is an organization with the objective to save lives and reduce the toll of injuries and death resulting from accident and violence on roads.

Odohofre explained that a committee comprising the State Security Service, SSS, the Nigeria Police, Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIO, and Federal Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Justice and Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, would work with the organisation.

According to the Chairman/CEO, they, as a  private sector concern, would source the funds while  government would enforce the project.

“Government would fine offenders while the percentage of money realized from the fines would be shared between government and RAPSON. However government would provide its agencies which would drive the project. The police would arrest the offenders while we are asking the police for 5,000 men,”he added.

He disclosed that after the pilot study in 2003, the organiosation picked Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt  for the take off of the project while a retreat and action plan would be organized.

How Beloved Apostle Bimpe Planned Her Burial Arrangements

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 57 Second

Unknown to many, the late woman of God, Beloved Apostle Bimpe who died on a Ash Wednesday, February 13th, 2013, a day to St. Valentine`s day had planned her burial arrangements before she breathed her last.

As a woman of bravery she`s known to be, the founder of Baba Missions` international ministry held several meetings (in the throes of death) with the trustees of her ministry taken her time to roll out her burial plans as well as charging key people with different roles. She ultimately resolved to be buried in the UK.

She was particular about being celebrated and not mourned. According to her in one of the meetings which yours truly was part of at the St. Joseph`s hospice in London, Apostle Bimpe emphasized that no one should cry after her death, “please I don't want anybody to cry, I want to be celebrated, it should be done like a marriage, please, no one should wear black attire to my burial, it must be a celebration of life”, she warned.

Speaking further, Apostle Bimpe said, to tell you I know what am talking about, am choosing the colour code for my burial, women should wear BABY PINK while men should be on BABY BLUE, it is a sign of joy and happiness, I know where I am going and am sure the angels are ready to receive me in continuation of the celebration.

It would interest you to know that, Beloved Apostle Bimpe and her intelligent first son, Damola worked on the computer to perfect the obituary plans, they both chose the pictures for the obituary and were only waiting for the DoD (Date of Death) before it would be taken to the printers. Quite a queer decision you would say, but there`s nothing as interesting as being privileged to know about one`s death because this courageous woman of substance left no stone unturned to prepare her children not just for the future but the battle ahead.

She made so many decisions some of which are the committee for the burial plans which will be championed by Baba Missions International Ministry. Heading the burial committee is Apostle Temi Ogunmefun who was one of her close confidants, he`s taking the major decision with Damola and other children.

Also very much involved in the burial plans is a top American pastor and founder of the Agape Christian Fellowship in America, Bishop Lonnel Henderson who`s the Chairman Board of Trustees of Baba Missions International. Also on the committee list are one of the hottest Christian couples in the UK, Pastor Tim & Shola Oladipo, others are Esteemed Olukunle Adepoju-Oluwa who stood at her bedside at the hospice together with her elder sister, Mrs. Moji Ladeji-Fayose and Mrs. Cole till death, also Pastor Kemi Idowu in the UK, Chosen Modupe Hyatt from the US, Omopee Petcoff, also a US citizen to mention but a few.

The committee has chosen Tuesday and Wednesday, March 5th and 6th, 2013 for the service of songs and final burial. There`s also a candle light procession in her memory in Abuja this Wednesday by her blood brothers, Emmanuel Oluwayose and Isaac. Watch out for a special publication on her life and times in National Enquirer magazine to be distributed free in Nigeria and UK. Please feel free to contact us on 08099000753 or 08056772666 if you have anything like a tribute, obituary or input to add.

Tight security as Libya marks revolt anniversary

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 50 Second

Security forces were on high alert across Libya on Sunday as the north African nation marked two years since the start of the revolt that toppled Moamer Kadhafi after four decades of iron rule.

Borders have been closed and some international flights suspended amid fears of a new outbreak of violence.

The anniversary of the uprising that ended with Kadhafi’s killing in October 2011 comes as Libya’s new rulers battle critics calling for a “new revolution” and accusing them of failing to usher in much-needed reforms.

On Friday, thousands of people gathered in the main cities of Tripoli and Benghazi to celebrate the initial February 15, 2011 protest that ignited the revolt two days later.

There is no official programme for Sunday’s anniversary, but the authorities have taken steps aimed at preventing any violence on a day when spontaneous celebrations are expected.

Tahrir Square in Benghazi was set to be the focus of the celebration, attended by national assembly president Mohammed Megaryef, the de facto head of state, and members of the government.

Libya’s borders with Egypt and Tunisia were closed from Thursday for four days, and all international flights have been suspended except at the airports of Tripoli and second city Benghazi — the cradle of the “February 17 revolution.”

Prime Minister Ali Zeidan said the measures were taken to avoid “any bid to undermine Libya’s security and disrupt celebrations marking the anniversary of the revolution.”

Checkpoints have also been set up across Benghazi and Tripoli.

“The joy that motivated people in towns and villages on February 15 and 16 has allowed Libyans to prove to the world that they are a civilised people who revolted against injustice and tyranny to gain freedom,” Zeidan said.

Opposition groups are demanding that former Kadhafi regime officials be barred from holding public office, and a leaflet circulated in Tripoli calls for a “popular revolt” and civil disobedience to bring down the current regime.

It is unclear who is behind the leaflet and the calls for protests, but Libyan officials and several organisations, including Islamic groups, accuse remnants of the former regime of fomenting protests to “sow disorder and instability.”

The authorities have threatened force against anyone who tries to derail anniversary festivities.

Benghazi was rocked last September 11 by an assault by Islamists on the US consulate there that killed US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

“Security is one of the challenges the country faces, especially the proliferation of weapons and the escape of thousands of prisoners” during the revolution, political analyst Suleyman Azqim told AFP.

“The new authorities are faced with immediate social demands that prevent them from implementing medium- or long-term economic or security strategies.”

Despite Libya holding its first free elections in July last year, Azqim said the country is not yet politically mature after four decades of dictatorship under Kadhafi.

The fear of fresh violence is strong among both Libya’s dwindling foreign community and Libyans who have rushed to stock up on food and domestic gas.

“We must be ready. One never knows what can happen, particularly since there is no stability in the country and the government is unable to impose its authority,” said one, Murad Abuajila al-Majbri.

Goldie”s Official Cause Of Death is DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 44 Second

Some medical experts have disclosed Susan Goldie. Harvey's official cause of death to be DVT.

Read the analysis said by a medical doctor "I am only saying this as an educative measure because i don't understand why people are so curious about cause of death when we shall all die.

DVT is DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS. Meaning a blood clot in the large veins in the thighs or the lower legs. When for any reasons such clots break loose, they may travel to any part of the body such as the brain, lungs or heart.

Where ever they hit, they'll block off oxygen from getting through. If it hits the brain for example, it will lead to cerebral Ischemia, whereby brain cells die very quickly and of course, we are facing massive stroke in such patients. Where clinical intervention is not rapid, death follows rapidly. When such clots hit the lungs, we say such patients threw a P/E meaning, Pulmonary Embolism. Lungs got occluded, starved of oxygen and oxygenated blood and of course Death within a short while.

Same thing for the clot in the heart. This syndrome is peculiar to older people, but can hit younger people too. Those who are genetically disposed to it, those who smoke or who are on birth control pills or estrogen for menopausal syndrome are susceptible to it.

Also, those who are couch potato or immobile are prone to DVT. Reading the news about her death, I had suspected it was DVT. My candid advise is for long distance travellers to take 81mg of Aspirin before boarding and to do leg exercise if they can't move about in the plane .

Aspirin is a blood thinner. I will rather risk the temporary discomfort of Ulcer than a DVT. Besides, the 81mg is a baby aspirin. It could have saved her life. People should encourage doctors to do their CBC and Pt/ Ptt and the dimer test to see if they are prone to this syndrome. May God rest her soul!"

Chelsea overcome slow start, reach 4th round

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 10 Second

Chelsea avoided becoming the latest victims of the FA Cup’s spate of giant-killings as the holders eased into the fifth round with a 4-0 win over League One minnows Brentford on Sunday.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are among a host of Premier League clubs to have been embarrassed by lower league opposition this season, but Chelsea overcame a slow start to their fourth round replay to eventually cruise through thanks to second half goals from Juan Mata, Oscar, Frank Lampard and John Terry at Stamford Bridge.

It is still too soon to declare Rafael Benitez’s team back on track after an inconsistent campaign, but at least there was no humiliation here.

Chelsea, who have won the Cup four times in the last six seasons, will travel to Championship side Middlesbrough for their delayed fifth round tie on February 27.

Blues captain Terry, fit after a knee injury, was part of a strong Chelsea line-up that reflected Benitez’s respect for Brentford after the underdogs came within seven minutes of a stunning victory over their west London neighbours in the first meeting last month.

Just as in the 2-2 draw at Griffin Park, Uwe Rosler’s team showed no signs of being overawed by their more illustrious opponents and midfielder Adam Forshaw fizzed an early shot just wide of Petr Cech’s far post.

The Blues were struggling to out of first gear and Branislav Ivanovic was off-target with a looping header from Mata’s corner, then Lampard miscued a good opportunity and when the loose ball ran to Oscar, the Brazilian’s close-range shot was well blocked by Bees defender Harlee Dean.

Chelsea’s struggles under Benitez have made it impossible for the former Liverpool boss to win over his new club’s supporters and they once again showed their disdain for the Spaniard with prolonged chants in support of sacked predecessor Roberto Di Matteo.

Oscar should have lifted the mood when Mata’s pass left him one on one with Brentford goalkeeper Simon Moore, but the midfielder didn’t make a clean connection and held his head in frustration as the shot cannoned away off a post.

Forshaw was threatening again when David Luiz sent him crashing to the turf on the edge of the penalty area, winning a free-kick that infuriated Brentford as Marcello Trotta had rifled his shot past Cech just as the whistle blew.

But there was more urgency about the Blues in the second half and, after Ivanovic’s header forced a good save from Moore, they finally ended Brentford’s resistance in the 54th minute.

For all Chelsea’s desire to play a move expansive style this season, this was a route one goal more reminiscent of Stoke than Barcelona.

Cech lumped a clearance towards Demba Ba and the Senegal striker’s flick fell for Mata, who advanced to the edge of the penalty area before driving a fine strike past Moore.

With the pressure lifted at last, Chelsea were able to play with more freedom and they killed off Brentford in the 68th minute.

Substitute Eden Hazard worked his way into the penalty area and slipped a pass to Ivanovic, whose low cross was met with a backflick from Oscar that deflected into the net off a Brentford defender.

Lampard made it three when he volleyed home from Mata’s cross in the 72nd minute.

It was the England midfielder’s 199th Chelsea goal and made him the club’s all-time leading scorer in the FA Cup.

There was still time for Terry, heading home Oscar’s cross, to complete the rout in the 81st minute.

Nigeria is becoming a failed state – Nwabueze

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 7 Second

Former Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, SAN, yesterday, raised an alarm over the poor state of affairs in the country, saying  “Nigeria is fast turning into a failed state.”

Nwabueze, who spoke at the 14th annual convention of the Igbo Youth Movement, IYM, in Enugu, said the country was already displaying all the attributes of a failed state.

According to him, “This country is on the verge of becoming a failed state, there are so many failed states in Africa and Nigeria is on the verge of getting that status of a failed state.

”Before now, we didn’t know about kidnapping, but it has become a way of life. Did we know about bombings before? But today, churches, schools, offices are being bombed on daily basis, the worst is that the bombers are not coming from outside the country, we are bombing ourselves.

”A nation that cannot provide a credible election for her people is a failed state; in 2003, 2011 we had no credible elections, yet we are talking about democracy.

”A country that cannot secure social and economic rights for her people is a failed state. Read chapter 2 of Nigeria’s constitution and you will understand what I am taking about, they are not leaders but looters”.
