Oge Okoye Speaks On Lesbians And Gays Controlling Nollywood

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 30 Second

Oge Okoye is one of Nigeria’s A-list actresses. In a recent interview, she candidly shares her views about Nollywood’s issues.

READ EXCERPTS:

What’s the latest about you?

A lot is in the making for me. I can’t let you know them right now as they are still on the low key but they will all be unveiled gradually before the year runs out by God’s grace. At the fullness of time, all will definitely be in the open.

How many movies have you done this year then?

Well for this year, I guess I’ve done about 10- 12 movies already.

How many movies have you done overall?

Wow! Honestly, I’ve lost count of the number of movies I’ve featured in.

What can you say about the Governor Akpabio N50m donation to Nollywood that is presently causing problems?

Concerning that, my notion is that this goes a long way to show how supportive some of our leaders are to the things that concern entertainment as a whole. Same applies to our noble President, His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan who has been so encouraging and a fat h e r f i g – ure to our large Nollywood family. Opportunities like this are hard to come by so I’ll say it is an impressive, fascinating and motivational gesture from our present government.

Tell us your most memorable role.

My most memorable role is where I took up the character of a vampire. It was scary for me but at the same time enjoyable.

What do you like most about Nollywood?

What I like most about our large family is that Nollywood is a strong voice to the world showing the different lives of different people and different things happening in the world. A strong voice It is indeed.

What do you hate most about it?

Sometimes the negative criticism and judgmental attitude towards us.

Is it true that gays and lesbians are now in control of Nollywood?

I don’t know anything about that aspect. Rather, I’m hearing this for the first time from you. So since I think you’ve got a lot of information on this, please enlighten me more on this piece of news.

What is your advice to upcoming actresses?

My candid advice, as I always say, is that they should always follow their heart and passion of being an actress to achieve whatever and everything they want. It’s about being focused, working hard, making sure they are worth their salt. Never envy anyone, be yourself and make good use of your potentials.

Practice makes perfect. For me, I never knew the ups and down of being an actor but I got into it and I developed myself professionally. It’s not a bed of roses but always have passion and love for it and the Rest will be history.

Read Time:49 Second

Many are doubting her claim, saying it is just the trick she is using to fool the man that wants to marry her but Ms Genevieve Nnaji has a shocker for you guys, insisting no man has "entered" her in the last 10 years. Below is what Genevieve said about her "thing":

I have been single for so long, it hasn’t been easy, even when D'banj came along with his thing that wasn’t long he kept saying NO LONG THING..NO LONG THING.. never [knew] that was he meant it till i saw it, it was even shorter than his harmonica… We couldn’t settle down.

Luckily for me, I have found a man now to spend the rest of my life with.”

So, what do you think, could it be true that Genny's "thing" has been close in for about 10 years?

Halle Berry to wed this weekend?

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second

Buzz is building that Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez plan to tie the knot in Paris sometime in the next few days. Both E! News and People.com are reporting a wedding is in the works.

The couple, who got engaged in March 2012, boarded a plane bound for France earlier this week with Berry's daughter, Nahla, 5.

Berry, 46, is expecting a baby boy, with Martinez, 47, in early fall. The French actor told People last month, "My son will be an American, but I remain French."

It will be the first marriage for Martinez, who previously dated singer Kylie Minogue.

It will be Berry's third walk down the aisle. She was married to baseball player David Justice in the early 1990s and to singer Eric Benét in the early 2000s.

She has been involved in a contentious custody battle over Nahla with recent ex, model Gabriel Aubry.

In 2007, the actress told InStyle magazine she had sworn off marriage: "I will never, never get married again."

When she revealed her engagement to Martinez, she said with a laugh, "Who knew? Never say never, people!"

KIM KARDASHIAN and KANYE WEST have spent just over £500,000 thats about 1.2 billion naira on four gold-plated toilets for their new gaff.

The couple have been staying with Kim’s mum KRIS JENNER while work on their new mansion in LA’s Bel Air is finished. Now that they have a completion date they have started buying furniture and fittings.

Kanye has ordered six special-edition beds from the company that supplies London’s Savoy Hotel, costing £114,000 each.

They are also kitting out their kitchen with almost £500,000 of Electrolux gear and a Swarovski- encrusted fridge freezer.

A source said: “They expect the interior to cost twice as much as the property. They’re spending more than a million on a security system alone.”

NOLLYWOOD: How Omotola Survived 17 Years Of Marriage As A Celebrity

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 37 Second
You will agree with me that its not easy for any celebrity in any part of this world to remain in a man's house as his wife for over a decade without divorce! You will also node to the fact that it's not Akara for a Nollywood actress' marriage to survive the constant media stabbing pierced into their private lives every time!

The likes of Kate Henshaw, Shan George, Eucharia Anunobi, Monalisa Chinda, Frank Edoho, Ara the drummer, Saheed and Fathia Balogun, Funke Akindele etc are breathing examples of how easy it is to jump out of your matrimonial home and how hard it is to keep a home in "Celebrity Land".

This is a society where marriage is treated as a sacred thing, when a woman is seen freely socialising with men, what greets it is a frowned face. But Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has successfully pushed through all the hurdles and still stands firm as a married woman.

This singular achievement has made her more respected and loved by millions! But what really has kept her marriage so far?

I have taken time to look at this and this is what I found out: As a journalist, I have interviewed both Omotola and her husband, Capt. Mathew Ekeinde. "If I see Omotola with seven men in a bedroom, I won't be moved because I trust my wife" that was what Capt. Ekeinde told me when I asked how much he trusts his wife.

Then I asked another question: it is believed that men who behave like that are also sleeping around; "Well I don't sleep around" he affirmed. So with this, it is obvious that one of the factors helping Omotola's marriage is her husband's blind trust in her.

Secondly, I believe that the fact that Omotola was married before Nollywood helped her so much. As a mother with grown kids, you don't mess around and if you do, you park your shit neatly! Even if Omotola or a hubby at a point wanted out of the union, because of the children, they would have had a rethink!

Thirdly, Omotola has just been extremely lucky! With the kind of negative media she has had in her career, Omotola's marriage should have crashed into Olumo Rock several years ago! Its not that she is the Saint of Nollywood!

No, in fact, she has been allegedly linked in several sex scandals with top Nollywood big boys like Tchidi Chikere, Richard Mofe Damijo and co but God has kept her going. The kind of scandals she has encountered should have shattered any marriage in the world beyond repair! Yet @Realomosexy still crosses her legs on the royal throne of Mrs. Ekeinde.

The cliché has been "behind every successful man there is a woman", in this case, it is wise to say "behind Omotola's successful marriage there are, a trusting husband and God's grace! Gbam!

Paula Deen: “I Would Have Freed My Slaves, Probably”

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 19 Second
SAVANNAH (CAP) – Celebrity chef Paula Deen, who was dropped by the Food Network after she admitted to having used racial slurs and spoke longingly of slaves and slavery, is saying that the media's portrayal of her has been "grossly inaccurate."

"I can honestly say that, if I had been a plantation owner, I would have probably freed all of my slaves, eventually," she said in a videotaped message to her fans. "I'm not saying I would have wanted to, because it would have been so nice to dress the colored folks up in nice little outfits and have them serve us our mint juleps and peach cobbler.

"But I would have, because it would have been the right thing to do at some point, I guess," she added.

Deen – who's known for her high-fat dishes and whose earlier recipes included such Southern specialties as Darkie Donuts, Uncle Tom's Cabbage and Sambo Stew – says that she respects people of all colors and creeds, as long as they are willing to eat an entire stick of butter in one sitting.

But many seem skeptical: In addition to the Food Network, Little Debbie is apparently breaking off a planned partnership with Deen to promote their Iced Honey Buns by baking them into a pork loin.

Meanwhile, First Lady Michelle Obama is said to be considering backing off her plan to humiliate one fat child a week, and instead focus exclusively on humiliating Paula Deen.

Drama as Lagbaja’s daughter walks down the aisle (photo)

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 21 Second

Guests were NOT ALLOWED to take photos so as not to unmask the father of the bride, Lagbaja, who came without his mask during the wedding!
The Drama:
Lagbaja gave a caveat to his in-laws that pictures and video coverage  avoided by either family members or friends, except the official photographer and the video coverage man that were hired for the purpose.
Consequently, getting access to the venue could be likened to a camel passing through the needle. Stern-looking security mounted the gate of Motherlan’, while guests were subjected to serious screening.  So, God help you if you were not invited.
It was, however, obvious that some of the groom’s family members were displeased with the arrangement. It was so bad that many, who were bounced, had to make frantic calls to their relatives who were already seated in the compound before they were allowed in.
Somewhere within the premises were different caterers who mounted their stands. They were so courteous and generous in their sense of catering.  The guests were seated under a large marquee and behind  beautifully designed white tables that all bore artificial flowers.
On the podium was the seat of the bride and the groom coated with gold and royal blue colours.  Gifts were beautifully wrapped with orange coloured net clothes. Findings revealed that the wrappings of the gifts were contracted to some specialists.
Both alaga iduro and the alaga ijoko, who were elegantly dressed, really spiced up the memorable event. But for the fact that he’s the father of the bride, you would have looked out for him without success.
Lagbaja sat quietly among the Ologundes that were seated in the front row. Tall, dark-complexioned Lagbaja was clad in an army green buba and sokoto with a matching red cap to match. Sitting beside him was his beautiful wife in a yellow iro and buba outfit, with a chocolate brown headgear that had a touch of yellow. Moyosade and Olamide met in the United States of America and decided to come to Nigeria to seal their love affair.
The wedding ceremony, which was attended by the crème de la crème, screeched to a halt with a closing prayer by Wale Ologunde. Although the event had come and gone, it will remain the talk of the town for a long time, as the guests were soaked in the joy of the day.

The first daughter of masked Afrobeat musician, Abisade Ologunde (Lagbaja) Moyosade Ologunde, walked down the aisle with her best friend, Olamide Obilana, in Opebi a few weeks ago.
Moyosade attended Pennsylvania State University School of Management where she bagged a Masters in business administration and now works as a change management specialist at a US firm.
