I was blind for 15 nights after birth — Chidinma Ekile

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 7 Second

Chidinma Ekile, one of Nigerias most talented pop stars took music to another level when she featured her mum, Mrs Martha Ekile, in a new song dedicated to her. The song ˜Martha had the mum doing the intro while Chidinma picked it up from there.

However the petite singer couldnt hide her excitement over the whole thing as she took to her Instagram page to express her feelings: œThe song ˜Martha is dedicated to my mother, Mrs Martha Ekile. I decided to show my fans  a different side to Chidinma, a side never revealed to so many, a side I will forever remain grateful and indebted to Father Lord  for his miraculous interventions and guidance in my life, she wrote.

œI was conceived and certified totally blind at birth. For fifteen nights this woman held me in her hands and wept uncontrollably, with my father calling on God to bless the newly born, Chidinma with sight. On the sixteenth day I opened my eyes and they have been opened ever since.

I was born a very fragile baby with some health conditions. Her prayers took it all away. Life is such a wonderful and colourful piece of art and it must feel like hell not to envision Gods creation she added.

AY: Inspiration to young Nigerians struggling to survive

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 54 Second

It is not enough to say that you have struggled to make something out of nothing, when you don’t have anything to show for it.

Ayo Richard Makun, popularly known as AY is outstanding in his profession as a comedian because he didn’t allow the hurdles he encountered earlier in life to deter him from his dreams; today he has a lot to show for it.

His University days were filled with tales that would make a block-buster movie if scripted. But that did not change his mind-set as he was determined to get to his God-given destination.

In this edition, we celebrate an icon who has affected so many young lives and whose shows have launched so many entertainers into spotlight, but whose greatest wish is for his parents to be alive to see what he has become.

How far has AY gone?

AY is a father and he is married to Mabel. He is multi-talented, a multi-award winning standup comedian, and one of the most successful comic acts Nigeria has produced.

AY gained fame through mimicking Rev. Chris Okotie in his hilarious jokes, and by 2006 he was called the Best Up-Coming Comedian in Nigeria.   He comes across easily, as Nigeria’s most creative comedian. He is also an established Compere, radio and TV presenter. He is a promoter, producer, actor, director, writer and an amazing event manager.

Ayo Makun is the host of one of Nigeria’s largest comedy shows known as the “AY live”. He is the director and also acts in AY’s Crib. Great Comedians like Helen Paul and Bovi arguably had their breaks from his shows. AY is the owner of Corporate World entertainment, Nigeria, Mr. Corporate is an award he won severally in his university days. It is no wonder, he loves the name.

AY Live enjoys huge attendance in Nigeria and London. In 2007, he held Lagos spellbound when the second edition of AY Live, Lagos Invasion drew a record crowd forcing him to do two shows in one day instead of one as planned. A similar feat was re-enacted in Nigeria’s Federal Capital City when AY Live, Abuja Invasion gave Abuja a standstill; it became Abuja’s most attended entertainment event ever.

He owns one of the biggest and most comfortable club houses in Nigeria. Ayo Makun has invested heavily in stand-up comedy as he has influenced so many upcoming comedians through his AY “Open Mic Challenge”. AY just recently premiered his latest movie titled ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ shot in the US.

But it was not always like this for AY…

He was already in 300 Level when he decided to study a course different from his original course which is Music. It was so difficult to change, so he did the almost impossible by buying another Jamb form.

He wrote the exam, passed it and was given admission to study Theatre Arts from 100 level, but he wasn’t perturbed as he was happy studying his dream course. In-between studying music and changing to Theatre Arts Department, AY spent about eight years doing a-four year programme.

Even though AY was exceptional student, he had to sponsor himself through the University, although he was very young. Ayo Makun was raised in a very humble home; he lost both parents pretty early and had to take the responsibility of being a father to his siblings.

He was forced to pick up the challenge of sending his younger ones to school while he was there himself. AY is the first male child amongst seven children, so it was not out of place when he had to wear the shoes of his parents at a tender age.

AY became a popular photographer just to make ends meet in school. He contested for different corporate competitions which he won, of which the proceeds of which he used to pay tuition. Along the line, using the platform of Delta State University, AY became the biggest event organiser on campus. He launched and hosted shows like Miss Delsu, Miss Delta, Face of Delsu and many others.

He didn’t give up even when he was gang-beaten by some cultists oncampus because he had beautiful girls flocking around him. Most ladies who went for Miss Nigeria and even to the Miss World Pageant from Delta State University in his time were managed by AY. But he was doing all these without actually making much money, until he graduated and moved to Lagos, to a bigger and brighter future

I have probably bedded 1,000 girls, says Hucknall of Simply Red

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 15 Second

Mick Hucknall has confirmed a notorious claim that he slept with 1,000 women. Asked if the rumours were true, the 54-year-old singer, who has sold more than 60million records said: “It probably is. I’ve not denied that, but I never claimed it. I never bragged about it. I don’t keep count.Hucknall-pix-1“I’ve no idea, but I would think over a 25-year period that’s probably reasonable to say…

But do I want to say it? No. It’s not what makes me tick. I don’t put chips on the bedpost.” Talking ahead of a 30th anniversary reunion of his band Simply Red next year, he added: ‘It’s like kids in a candy store. You can’t believe it. There’s girls chasing you all the time – it’s incredible. “When you’re 24 you don’t give a toss. You’re invincible. You can do anything. Your mind is set in a way that the world is just ready and you’re just going to take it all. You’re just going to have a grand time.”Hucknall formed Simply Red in 1985 and their hits include Holding Back the Years and Stars.

After more than 30 top 40 UK singles and two US No 1s, they split up in 2009. Born into a working class family in Manchester, Hucknall began singing at the age of four and held his first gig when he was just six.
“I was singing all the time. I used to sing for the girls,” he said. “I feel very blessed because I grew up in what was effectively a British musical renaissance.“The Sixties and early Seventies, to me, mark an era that is unsurpassed in British music.”He dropped out of grammar school at 16 after struggling with bullies who singled him out because of his bright red hair. Being accepted at an art school proved to be the turning point for him and after two years at a further education college and three at a polytechnic, he emerged with a 2:2 degree.

He said it was a disappointing result that he blamed on departmental politics. While studying he formed a punk band called The Frantic Elevators, playing their first gig in 1978.Hucknall drifted away in the 1980s to set up Simply Red. Their record Stars, released in 1991, was the best-selling album in the UK for two years running – and remains joint sixth highest of all time.

Tuface has seven kids from three different women – Annie Idibia (his wife), Sumbo Ajaba (now Mrs Adeoye) and Pero Adeniyi. And in a new chat with Black House Media, the super star reportedly admitted his regret that they weren’t from one woman. Tubaba said:

About what he would have become if he wasn’t a musician, Tuface continued:

What Kim Kardashian Going Full Frontal Means for the Magazine Industry

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 12 Second

The print magazine industry is dying. Over the past decade, publications around the world have been forced to literally stop the presses. Readers have switched over to more accessible, instantaneous, and cheaper mediums over monthly bibles that seem out of date by the time they hit newsstands. But the periodicals left ” and they are few and far between ” now duke it out month after month to stay relevant and sell copies. So that's why Paper magazine's latest stunt featuring Kim Kardashian's bare butt isn't all that surprising.

The reality star has 25 million Twitter followers and almost as many on Instagram. Just one of her selfies has more reach than most mags can hope for in one issue. Paper tag-lined their Winter issue œBreak the Internet and while this certainly didn't come true, with just 140 characters from Kardashian, Paper is now an entity that everyone knows about. The publication releases eight editions each year, has a paid circulation of 125,000 subscribers. Based in New York City, it was founded in 1984 and is read by a very niche crowd, with its editorials focusing on fashion and pop culture. The website, papermag.com, brings 1.3 million unique visitors per month. Yet a shock-factor photo shoot featuring the reality star has generated hundreds of thousands of tweets, online coverage, and even talked about on morning television shows. A magazine is relevant again because the Internet is talking about it ” how ironic is that?

Vogue, which has never had a problem being the talk of the town ” just look to the Devil Wears Prada for proof ” even called on Kardashian to front an issue. Posing with her now-husband, Kanye West, in wedding dresses, the cover spawned the hashtag #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple. The fashion bible, which notoriously shunned featuring celebrities on their covers until celebrity culture really exploded in the early 2000s, didn't necessarily sell record-breaking numbers, but the hashtag campaign is still referenced in connection with the power couple to this day.

But the Paper cover doesn't so much leverage Kardashian's massive influence as it does shock and awe. While Vogue certainly used their exclusive access to the First Family of Fashion to generate conversation, Paper's approach is much more explicit. The bare butt image only grazed the surface of what was in store ” the centerfold reveals that and so much more. (You can view the NSFW images here.) Wearing (kind of) a customized dress and accessorized with vintage gloves, and MIKIMOTO necklaces and earrings, she undresses and lets everything (and I mean everything, full frontal included) all hang out.

Magazines have never shied away from gratuitous nudity. Jennifer Aniston, Beyonc©, Zoe Saldana, and even pregnant Demi Moore have taken it all off, granted with creative placement covering up important parts. Famed photographer Helmut Newton was shooting nudity for fashion magazines for years, stirring lots of controversy in his day, along with Guy Bourdin who would shoot naked women for the cover of French Vogue and provocative ad campaigns starting in the '70s.

While those shoots went the semi-tasteful route, Paper has completely dropped any illusion as to what could be hiding underneath. These clever props ” ties, hands, type ” almost distinguished their mass market images from pornography. But Paper has blurred the line between fashion magazine and Playboy. Seemingly, what keeps this shoot from being looped in with X-rated publications is the art and high-profile photographer that produced the images. Jean-Paul Goude, who came to fame for shooting his muse Grace Jones and even has work featured in museums around the world, is representing Kardashian as an icon and perpetuating a message.

‘The snobs can all kiss Kim’s butt’ Piers Morgan writes in support of Mrs West

0 0
Read Time:6 Minute, 3 Second

Kim K may have been criticized by half the world for posing completely nude for Paper magazine, but there's someone who has her back and has written a piece to support her. British journalist, TV host and Editor-at-Large of MailOnline, Piers Morgan says all Kim 'haters' can kiss her ass because she has done nothing wrong. See what he wrote, which was first published on UK Daily Mail, below

The tweet crashed into my feed like a teasing tornado. ‘You can’t un-see this: Kim Kardashian shows off her famous backside,’ it read.

For once, the tease more than lived up to its promise. As with Man landing on the Moon, Mandela walking free from his prison cell, and Derek Jeter’s winning hit in his last game at Yankee Stadium – it was a photograph that will be forever etched in the memory.

I clicked on the link – how could any red-blooded male NOT click on that link? – and there she was, butt naked and balancing a champagne glass on same said butt, splashed across the front cover of PAPER magazine with the headline: ‘BREAK THE INTERNET, KIM KARDASHIAN’.
Which is exactly what she nearly did as the startled world scrambled to view, disseminate, debate and deliberate over the single most examined and infamous derriere in history. (A bold claim, but think about it and I’m right).

Predictably, the abuse and ridicule began to pour in as fast as the gasps of shock, awe and admiration.
Ms Kardashian-West was apparently a ‘slut’, a ‘terrible mom’, a ‘disgrace to the human race,’ ‘a dumb, trashy b***h’ etc.

Of course, she’s heard it all before, ever since that sex tape was leaked and propelled her into the kind of instant, gigantic cyberspace notoriety that can either crush a woman or make her so strong and impervious to criticism that she builds a $1 billion brand.

Kim’s in the latter category and people hate her for it.
They resent her global fame, her immense wealth, her marriage to one of the world’s most brilliant music icons. Above all, they loathe her resolute refusal to bow to all the bitter venom that spews its way in her direction.

It’s time for me to make a shocking admission: I like and admire Kim Kardashian-West.
I interviewed her soon after I joined CNN and found her to be a warm, unpretentious, honest and rather charming young lady.
When I mockingly asked her to name a single talent she possessed, she smiled knowingly and made no attempt to cite one.

But then she thought about it more and said: ‘Actually, I think being an entrepreneur is a skill, marketing is a skill, and so is fashion designing. My sisters and I are smart enough to understand that having a successful reality TV show is just a platform for people to get to know us on a personal level.
‘But for us, we’ve always been about the business – selling our fragrances, shoe lines, clothes. And we’ve always been about hard work.’

As for her roundly condemned status as a role model, she told me with calm conviction: ‘I think I promote a healthy, natural body image.’
She admitted to using Botox, Spanx and the odd piece of masking tape to aid the daunting red carpet process. But she insisted she’d never had plastic surgery, and was happy and confident with how she looks.

I have studied her face close up and seen nothing to contradict this; Kim’s a natural beauty.
She also revealed she gives away 10% of her income to charity. That, as you can imagine, is a lot of money.

In a stunning illustration of her power, I ended the interview by asking her to look down the camera and order her Twitter followers to follow me. They did, over 60,000 of them in 20 minutes.
Since then, I’ve met her a few more times at parties. She’s always exactly the same – friendly, chatty, and completely lacking in the searing insincerity and delusions of grandeur that so many stars with ‘real talent’ exude.

There’s also an absurd hypocrisy with regard to which female celebrities are allowed to bare their flesh without criticism.
When Keira Knightley stripped topless recently, she explained it was strictly to make a protest against air-brushing. Hmmm.

When Rihanna, Madonna or Beyonce gyrate their booties on stage, it’s done in the name of ‘art’.
When all the supermodels got their kit off for PETA, it was excused under the banner of ‘helping the animals’ .

When Demi Moore posed naked and pregnant, it was applauded, not castigated, because she’s a great actress and the photo appeared on the cover of prestigious Hollywood bible, Vanity Fair.
When Chelsea Handler does it, which seems to be every day at the moment to diminishing laws of aesthetic return, it’s heralded as ‘comedy genius’.

But when Kim Kardashian-West does it, in a photo session conducted by highly acclaimed French photographer Jean-Paul Goude, she is lambasted.

She’s 5ft 3in, has spectacular curves in all the wrong places if you’re a Size Zero catwalk star, and can’t sing, dance, act, paint or play the violin.

Yet she survives and thrives because millions of young people around the world find her both real and someone they can relate to. They appreciate that she’s got a very smart eye for business, fashion, television and social media. And an even smarter eye for self-publicity and nurturing her brand.
Kim doesn’t take drugs, get drunk, fall out of clubs, cheat on her man, or do any of the other insanely louche things that stars with far greater ‘talent’ often do.

She works ridiculously hard, is good to her fans, and is by all accounts a good, loving daughter, sister, wife and now mom herself.

She was also, lest we forget, pursued, wooed, and won by a genius who professes (and I believe him) to love Kim for her mind as much as her coveted body.
Kanye West’s reaction to this wife’s latest controversial cover photo was to simply tweet this: #ALLDAY.
We knew what he meant.

Oh, and nobody can call her talentless any more either.
As she herself tweeted: ‘And they say I don’t have talent – try balancing a champagne glass on your ass! LOL.’

I laughed out loud at that comment, just as I did when I first saw these new photos. She’s a cheeky little minx at the top of her game.
Kim Kardashian-West’s laughing all the way to the bank. And all you lazy, snide, snobbish, patronising and hypocritical critics can go kiss her ass – there’s plenty of room.

Ladies Suck Your Man’s Microphone At least Once a Day” – Actress Niecey Nash

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

Actress, comedian and former host of Style Network’s Clean House, Niecey Nash gave a great advice to ladies in order to save their marriage from crashing and keep the divorce attorney away.

Niecey said a lady should at least give her man a BJ a.k.a Blow.job once a day in order to keep the relationship going.

Niecey told Playboy Magazine while promoting her relationship advice book. She said:

“What I say in the book is, “A BJ a day keeps the divorce attorney away” and I say that because I feel like men are profoundly simplistic, which is the reason I wanted to call my book what I used as the title of chapter three, which is, “Stomach Full, Penis Empty: A Woman’s Guide to a Happy Marriage.”

She also said,

Keeping him fed and drained, you have no problem. We are really more complicated than they are and I think that women are more generous with oral sex because we nurture by nature. We want to be pleasing by nature, that’s in our DNA, so I think that a lot of the behavior we’re looking for sexually, you might have to educate your partner.
Sometimes, men just assume they’re going to get it and you need to be like, “Give me mine. Ladies first.”

“Why We Changed Our Family Name From Ojukwu To Damasus ” —-Nollywood Actress, Stella Damasus

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 24 Second

“I'm from Delta State. I was born into a Christian family of five girls and a boy. I lost my brother in 1991 to asthma. I lived with my parents until I came to Lagos after my secondary school. I was living with my sister, got into music and that was when I went to Klink Studio, joined a band and started performing live.

My daddy is a fantastic man. He is Chief SKC Damasus. He was a banker all his life. During the war he was a soldier and after the war he became a banker. My mum is a banker as well. I was brought up in a home of bankers. Everything was by the book. You go to school, come back, study, receive guests and the likes. Again, because I had older sisters things were easier. Growing up was fun.

My family name was changed from Ojukwu to Damasus during the Nigeria/Biafra civil war because we were being mistaken to be related to a warlord. I was told that my family name used to be Ojukwu but during the civil war there was confusion because a lot of my family members were mistaken to be related to one war lord.

They were burning a lot of houses in my village so my father and his brother decided to adopt my grandfather's first name. It was a Greek name which was Damasus, my grandfather's name was Damasus Ojukwu. The only thing I know about the civil war are the stories my parents told me.” (they refused to tell us about Biafra in school?) (You cant hide the truth) –
