Nigeria is Important Market, Says Renault

French auto maker has set up shop in Nigeria, through a new dealership with Dana Cars and Services Limited.
At the launch of the auto maker’s special project known as Renault-Drive-the-Change in Nigeria, recently, the Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Planning, Renault Africa Region, Ms. Christel Galbrun, said the company is more than 150 years old, adding that it is a global, innovative and people-centric company.
Galbrun said the company is present in more than 180 countries all over the world, adding “We are of French origin but global.”
Renault, she said is honoured to bring its knowledge and European designs and quality products to Nigeria, explaining that Renault and Dana signed a partnership a few months ago and that they were proud to launch the first official facility for sales and services in Nigeria.

She said Renault is bringing into the African market a full range of its products, saying that Nigeria was important in the automotive industry since it is the “first economy of the continent, first population with the fastest growing middle class.”
Renault, she said also shared and discussed the vision of the automotive industry in Nigeria, stating that “Renault is ready to take a massive role as a global player together with our business partner Dana.”
She said there is no business without good products, and listed the various models in Nigeria as; Latitude executive sedan, Fluence, Duster, Koleos, Sandero-Stepway and Logan. “Since the launch of Duster four years ago, the model has become a resounding success; since Duster’s launch its sale has reached a million units in the world.”
Africa, she said is very important in the strategy of Renault “hence the long-term success in Nigeria is a top priority. Nigeria is big, Renault is thinking big.”

According to the Director, Dana Cars and Services Limited, Mr. Francis Ogboro, the slogan; ‘Renault Drive the Change’ was a remarkable futuristic and replicated to drive change.
Renault, Ogboro said was “a world class brand with exclusive disposition to brand quality and superior European engineering know-how.”
He said Renault is renowned world-wide with uncanny disposition for change and that Dana Cars and Services intended to replicate Renault’s ambitious compliment and to even surpass it, using its time-tested integrated sales and marketing approach to reposition the Renault brand among leading brands in Nigeria’s automotive market.
He said, “We will create affectionate relationship with existing customers and give them quality and affordable European engineering. This is why we partner with Renault to bring to Nigeria superior quality cars and vans that are adaptable to the Nigerian weather.”
He said Renault’s mission in Nigeria is to as quickly as possible key into the federal government’s development agenda of transforming the economy from mono-oil dependent to a manufacturing hub, where Renault seeks to play a significant role.
Renault cars, he said “are amazingly affordable, user-friendly, easy to maintain with low carbon dioxide emission, which in essence goes to improve the quality of life.”

The company’s technicians, he said have been trained to handle Renault’s ever-changing technology.
Renault’s core market is Europe, where it is renowned for its role in motor sport and formula 1.
Vice President, Operations, Dana Cars and Services Limited, Joseph Fernandes, who is the new Renault custodian, described the inauguration of Renault–‘Drive the Change’ as “the beginning of a purposeful relationship and a commitment towards providing world-class automotive experience to customers in Nigeria.”
