Live Eviction ShowAnnabel and Sulu waved goodbye to their fellow housemates – and their shot at the USD 300 000 prize – during Sunday night’s live Big Brother: The Chase eviction show after receiving the fewest viewer votes from Africa this week. Annabel was up for eviction after receiving three nominations from her housemates, while Sulu found himself in the firing line after Head of House Bimp saved Cleo and put him up for eviction in her place.

IK didn’t waste any time in summoning Annabel and Sulu from the house in quick succession, after taking delivery of the envelopes containing the verified voting results from the SizweNtsalubaGobodo auditor.

Out on stage before the rapturous studio audience, Annabel said it hadn’t been easy to cope with the variety of personalities in the house, telling IK: “at the end of the day, it’s all about respect. Respect my space and I’ll respect yours”. Sulu said that he’d been the same inside the house as he is outside – always full of energy and enthusiasm. He told IK that Selly had been his very good friend and that she had been one of the women in the house that he’d connected with.

Last week’s evicted housemates, Pokello and Bassey, got to have their say about their time in The Chase. Pokello said that some housemates had been nice to each other simply to avoid nomination, which is where “fakeness and pretending” had come into play. “That’s not who I am,” she said. Bassey said that Africa had taken the entertainer out of the house by evicting him and explained that coming from a really big family had helped him fit into the house more easily. He told IK that Fridays and Sundays were his lowest moments in the house, where people you’d gotten to know so well were swapped or evicted.

OC Ukeje and Jackie Appiah joined IK on stage to talk about the 2014 AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards. Both were winners – for Best Actor and Best Actress – in 2013, and Appiah and Best Director winner Akin Omotoso spent some time in the house on Thursday to help judge the housemates’ task presentation. Ukeje and Appiah joined IK in announcing that the 2014 AMVCA ceremony will take place on 8 March 2014 in Lagos. For more information about submissions, visit www.africamagic.tv.

Boity Thulo was on hand to explain another way for fans to connect with evicted housemates – via the weekly Google + Hangout. By asking a question on Twitter with #DStvReality, the presenters will try to ask the evicted housemates as many fan questions as possible during the Hangout. Fans can watch the Google + Hangout via the DStv Google + page, or catch up afterwards on www.youtube.com/bba. Each week, one of the evicted housemates’ biggest fans stands a chance to participate in the Google + Hangout – check out thee DStv Google + page and www.bigbrotherafrica.com for more details.

Namibia’s multi award-winning rap kingpin Sunny Boy rocked the stage twice – first with “Yeah Aa / Balance” and then towards the end of the show with his smash hit “Follow Me”.

A highlight of the week, was Melvin and Elikem being surprised by Big Brother’s talking fish. After surprising Elikem very early on Thursday, the fish had a word with Melvin on Friday as he was preparing for a late-night shower. He played it as cool as Elikem had – in stark contrast to Selly’s hysterical reaction the first time the fish spoke to her. The fish set both Elikem and Melvin tasks, for which they would receive rewards if completed successfully.

This week’s viewer vote winners were: HD PVR Decoder – Hermine Ilunga (Zambia); Uhuru Tablet – Kondwani Muwowo (Zambia) and DStv Walka – Saheed Ayinla (Nigeria). Don’t forget to vote to keep your favourite housemate in the game after Monday’s nominations, to stand a chance to win!
