A Sri Lankan woman who killed her own baby by stuffing him in a plastic bag before dumping him in garbage bin, has been jailed for three years.
The sentence was handed down to the woman by a court of appeals in Khorfakkan which upheld an earlier sentence passed on her and also ordered her deportation from the UAE after she was found guilty of killing the newborn baby.
Aside the jail term, she was also mandated to pay 'diya' (blood money) to the baby’s relatives.
The woman had confessed to the prosecution that she got rid of her baby by stuffing him in a plastic bag and dumping him in the garbage.
