Local Government Councils in Delta State have been scored high for delivering on infrastructural development, and commended for working in line with Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan administration’s three-point agenda.
Commissioner in the Directorate of Local Government, Barr. Newworld Safugha gave the commendation while taking his turn at the on-going Mid-term Report press briefing by members of the State Executive Council.
He told journalists that while touring the 25 Local Government Councils recently, he noticed that a good number of projects have been undertaken and completed. Some of these projects, he said, included an ultra modern market at Ibusa, Kwale and Obiaruku respectively; Police Station and staff quarters at Adeje and Okuovo towns in Okpe Local Government Council. Others are construction and asphalt tarring of various roads at Agbor, Bomadi and Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Council.
Hon. Newworld also disclosed that some Councils constructed blocks of six classrooms, while others were rehabilitated in Otokutu, Ughelli South Local Government and Warri South Local Government Councils. Primary Health Care Centres were also constructed and rehabilitated in Koko, Warri North, as well as in Ogor, Ughelli North L.G.A., amongst others.
In addition, the Hon. Commissioner announced that massive infrastructures such as, the Uzere Cassava Processing Factory in Isoko South L.G.A, provision of street lights in Egborode and Ughoton, both in Okpe L.G.A. as well as construction of comprehensive Water Scheme in Aniocha North Local Government Secretariat were also embarked upon.
