Read Time:1 Minute, 21 Second

The award wining and author of Half of a Yellow Sun, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie while talking with Kate Kellaway of the Observer, believes that African women should be proud of their natural hair, which is the pride of Africans instead of having inferiority complex carrying it.
When asked by kate to discuss about her new novel (Americanah) that includes the detail descriptions of black women having their hair done and also to give a brief description of her own hair, she has this to say; "That is the best question! My hair is in tiny cornrows; I have a big ponytail on the top of my head. I quite like it. It is natural.
I am a bit of a fundamentalist when it comes to black women's hair. Hair is hair – yet also about larger questions: self-acceptance, insecurity and what the world tells you is beautiful. For many black women, the idea of wearing their hair naturally is unbearable".

The response above is unique and well timed. This is because, most African women lately, believe it is akin to a taboo for them to carry their natural unique hair. They believe for one to look beautiful, you must wear Brazilian, Indian, Lace wigs or Peruvian hair.

Aside Chimamanda who is a fundamentalist towards African women hair and a strong custodian of African/black woman hair sustenance, another Nigerian who has wowed the world with her singing talent is also in the same category with Chimamanda. If human hair manufacturing company have people like her as their target audience, they will surely run into administration.
