Former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will tomorrow evening speak at Chatham House, London, on the rebirth of the opposition in Nigerian politics.
In a talk entitled, “Democracy and the rebirth of the opposition in Nigeria,†Tinubu would speak on the conceptual incompleteness of democracy without a vibrant opposition, which is an alternative government in waiting.
He would then zero in on the Nigerian experience, touching on how rigged elections nearly truncated the current democracy in Nigeria, how the April 2011 elections somewhat restored faith at least in Nigerian urban centres but how rigging still prevailed in the rural areas.
He is also expected to speak on how a more sweeping electoral reform is imperative, if democracy must be consolidated in the country.
